"Only Heaven Is Better than Disney World": Live TR 8/24

Thanks for the reply. We are gonna go even though we know it will be hot. We are happy to get the free dining and save some money. We were there before for a wedding, so I guess we just have to suck it up and deal with the Florida heat and rainstorms.

Depending on where you are from, it might not even seem that bad! We are from Delaware, and it gets pretty hot and humid here in the summer...so Florida didn't seem much worse. The main key is to stay hydrated. I didn't have enough water on Saturday and definitely got a little dizzy because of it!

Our first order of business when we got to Magic Kingdom was to get a bite to eat to hold us over until lunch time, since we never had any breakfast.

We decided to go to the Main Street bakery. My fiancé got a ham and cheese sandwich, which had so much ham on it he had to pull some of it off to eat it! I got their homemade ice cream sandwich. Now when I ordered this, I thought it was made on regular-sized cookies...but it was GIGANTIC! Seriously, four people could have split this thing and been satisfied! It was very good, but very rich! I ate way more than was good for me and still had to throw at least half of it away! Probably not the best choice of food on an empty stomach, but I survived ;).

After eating, we backtracked to the Walt Disney World Railroad and rode it out to Frontierland.

Once there, we decided to ride Splash Mountain one final time. Even though it was almost 11, the wait was only ten minutes!

We had very good luck up until this point riding Splash because we were always seated in the third row and never got very wet. Well, this time made up for it!!! We were seated in the first row and got absolutely soaked!

As we departed Splash, squishing with every step that we took, my fiancé asked if I wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain, as it had been down on our last visit. Between not having taken any Dramamine and having just eaten an overly sweet snack, I figured I better sit this one out. I told him to go ahead and ride it, and I would find somewhere to sit and wait for him.

Luckily, the wait was short for that too, and he rejoined me about 20 minutes later. We headed on to Country Bear Jamboree, which we hadn't gotten a chance to see yet this trip. Now I love this show and am normally able to devote my full attention to it, but I was so tired that I was having trouble staying awake this time! I never did fall asleep, but I was a little more zoned out than usual!

With everything we wanted to do in Frontierland completed, we stopped by Liberty Square to ride the Haunted Mansion again.

That morning, I had mentioned to my fiancé that we hadn't really done anything in Fantasyland other than Philharmagic, so we decided to check out the waits for some of the rides there. To our astonishment, the wait for Peter Pan was listed as only being 20 minutes! We heard a cast member say to the people behind us that they were about to change the sign to thirty, but it wasn't really that either; we were seated within fifteen minutes. I have never gotten onto Peter Pan so quickly midday!

By the time we got off Peter Pan, we needed to start heading back to the Poly for lunch. Our original plan for the afternoon was to go back to Epcot to visit Germany and maybe some of the countries, but my fiancé could tell my sore feet weren't really up to Epcot walking...plus he knew I wanted to hit some more rides at MK. Therefore, he suggested we return after lunch, and I was quick to agree. We picked up some Fastpasses for Pooh on the way out and got a pair of the "surprise" Philharmagic passes too.

Since the walkway under Cinderella's castle was blocked off for the little show they do, we had to cut around the side by the wishing well. We decided to throw some coins in and make a wish while we were there.

As we were leaving the park, I told my fiancé that I wanted to get my carry-on from bell services and change my capris before lunch since they STILL weren't dry from Splash! We had to wait a little bit for the monorail, and by the time we arrived at the Poly I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do this because it was almost time for our reservation. However, Kona was really slow-maybe a fourth of the tables filled, if that--so we asked if I could go change before being seated, and they gladly obliged.

Fifteen minutes later, with fresh DRY clothes, we returned to Kona for our lunch. However, it's late right now, and I have to go back to work in the morning :(...so my final lunch and afternoon update will have to wait until tomorrow.

Happy that you are home safe and sound.

You mentioned "surprise" Philharmagic passes. What are they?

Sometimes when you put in your tickets for one ride, they give you two sets of fastpasses--one for the ride you were getting them for and a surprise set for another ride. At this time of year, though, you really don't need Philharmagic fastpasses...there's rarely a wait other than waiting for the next show to start. I wasn't even going to try to use them when we went to the show later, but my fiancé asked about them and they did make our queue walk much shorter, though not the actual wait itself.

OOOH!! Surprise fastpasses - that sounds great, even if you didn't really need them, it's still fun! Don't enjoy work too much

I've loved sharing your trip with you and especially loved the Poly pictures you just posted as we'll be checking in 3 months from today!!! :goodvibes

A fifteen minute wait for Peter Pan??!! Im impressed. This is always such a long line to wait in, that we never do standby, only fastpass! 15 mins wouldnt be bad at all. Glad you made it home safely and cant wait to read some more of your report. Makes me miss my MK SOOOOOOO bad!

Hi there!:wave2: I just wanted to say that I caught your TR late, but have enjoyed all of your updates. I've even learned a few things that I didn't know before. I'll be eagerly awaiting your next update.

What a great trip report! Almost like being there :)

All caught up and anxiously awaiting the rest! popcorn::

You have done a great job with your Trip Report! I've really enjoyed the pictures (as I've already told you)! I can't wait to try one of those ice cream sandwiches! Who knew!!!

Hope school is going well! Now you have to start planning your next trip.....or is it wedding first?:goodvibes

Not live because I don't have the ability to... but I'll be keeping notes during my trip and posting them with pictures when I get back.

Chiming in late as always for me :)
It’s always so tough getting back from a Disney trip, back into reality, work, kids, getting ready for school etc. Then I finally remember to visit your TR in my hectic life and it definitely cheered me up! :cool1:

It was GREAT meeting you and your hubby -to-be in 50’s PTC last week. My first visit to PT and it was extra special to have been seated next to you both – and what a coincidence that you are a DISer! You know, before you asked me if I visited any Disney forums, it was in the back of my mind to ask YOU. So glad you did! :goodvibes
For everyone that has read this TR … you will know that our waiter, Hassan, played his part so well. I know you’ve had the recap already, but I have to add that it was terrific seeing my DD shamed in front of everyone.

You did tell me how you came to name your TR, but I still loved reading it again. Your cloud picture is wonderful. In fact ALL your pictures were fantastic! I still can’t believe how well you keep up your TR while in Disney. I hardly have time to DIS these days … let alone on vacation. I have read (skimmed thru half of your TR so far) but will finish it all. It's been great reading so far:thumbsup2

Loved reading your report! We just arrived home late last night (this morning) at 3am. I couldn't wait to read the rest of your report. We were in Epcot on 08/29 as well, so I looked for us in your pictures, but no luck ;)

We loved the Poly - probably won't be able to stay anywhere else now! I don't have nearly as many pictures as you, but hope to post a few next week when I get organized.

Thanks again!!!

Hey everyone, I didn't forget to do the end of our last day and camera picture posts; the new school year has just gotten in the way (being a teacher and all.) Going to try to post the final afternoon this evening :)

I know! I have NEVER seen the line that short. We walked by it later, and it was back up to 40 or 50 minutes!
