Long story short.....we only have enough home advantage points right now to book one night of our three night stay we want in Sept at DL for marathon weekend. More points will be available to us when our 7 month window opens in a few weeks but we're taking a huge gamble on whether or not there will be availability as it's a busy weekend.

We have no intention of splitting such a short stay but are wondering if we should go ahead and book our one day just in case? We don't really think it would get us any kind of advantage, though.

What would you do?

Can you borrow points so you can book all three nights?
If you are going to try to book using your non home resort points, then maybe you should book what you can with your home resort points (maybe the last night?) Then, you would have fewer nights to WL if you aren't able to book with your nonhome resort points at 7 months.

Since a split stay is out, I'd book a hotel room and waitlist the entire vacation. At least you'd be guaranteed a room of some sort.
