Hi!

We're headed to Disney at the beginning of August for my sons 5th Bday...were staying for three days and then going on the Disney Dream to the Bahamas. ️Question...I'm really considering just doing the parks in the late afternoon and at night and not attempting at all during the day. Im thinking of booking all our fast passes at night and just hanging out at our hotel pool during the day and trying to just relax and eat at our resort...we're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Is this a dumb idea? I'd just really like to try to avoid the blaring sun if we can...has anyone ever gone and just gone into the parks at night like this?

I might add that this will be his third trip and the two other times we've been we've gone to the parks from the time they opened until closing so he's definiteh gotten that experience twice before.

Thank you @BigAlsGal...we just usually hit the ground running and go all day long in the parks but we usually go when it's way cooler so this is a whole new ball game! Just never been in the summer and want to try to make it as enjoyable as possible:)

I think that as long as you have fun, it's definitely not a dumb idea! Although it might be more crowded in the evenings (but I have no idea, it's August so it'll probably be busy regardless, ha-ha) I'm sure it'll be very cool to get to experience the parks at night and getting to see the parks lit up at night will be awesome! And then plus you'll get to sleep in since you don't plan on going during the day, so yeah, sounds brilliant to me!

I'm doing the exact opposite, rope drop till about 2pm and I think either way should work great! My kids are little so they couldn't handle the entire day anyway, and you'll get to see all the cool night shows, which I'll be missing. Sounds great! Enjoy!

If we were traveling in August, the only way I would go to the parks is in the early evening and close them out. I think it would be a relaxing trip.

If your 5 year old can handle it, and you won't have trouble getting him back to a normal schedule when you get home, that sounds great!

Not a bad idea at all, and actually a very smart one.

I am bringing my kids this summer while my husband has to travel elsewhere. We are staying onsite for 4 nights, then spending some time with family in the area. Original plan was to just do water parks. One of my kids is EXTREMELY heat sensitive. However, I floated the idea of JUST doing MK and Epcot at NIGHT, after we spend the mornings at the waterparks. My son was receptive to that idea. Since we are coming from the west coast, the time change will work in our favor for late nights and sleeping in anyway. I haven't fully decided yet, but for now, that's the plan.
