Hi, I asked this question over on the Resort boards and someone suggested people might know more over here. I was looking for suggestions for 1 bd villa room number requests trying to find a nice woods or lake view. The word was that there aren't really nice views in the villas. Does anyone here have any ideas for that? Thanks so much.

The view is mostly of the woods as the pine trees grow tall. You might be able to get a view of the pool, but it isn't guaranteed.

You'd want to avoid the dumpster view if at all possible.

It's not the room views that make this place special. It's everything else about it.

If you want a nice woods view, staying at VWL will be perfect for you. Nearly ALL the villas have a great woods view. It is peaceful.

Just to clarify - I was the responder from the Resorts board - I didn't say there were only bad views, I just said there weren't great views in general at VWL, and to avoid the dumpster view!

If a nice woods view is what you're looking for then you've reserved at the right place! :thumbsup2

I personally like the views. For the most part it's only the studios at the end of the wing that have the dumpster view. That is on the west facing side.

Here's a 1 bedroom pool view I had a few years ago. Don't remember the room #, the door faced the atrium.

We had a truly horrible view last year at VWL, but there had already been a screw up @ check in with giving us an HA room, and so they had to correct that, and gave us a nasty view of the covered porch area!

Not a great view at all, especially since it was a 1 bedroom, but we were doing a split stay for 2 nights, and just dealt with it.

Good luck to OP in getting a better view than we did. We've had a few studio views at VWL that were pretty good of the woods.

If you are after a one bedroom, request top floor near elevator.

We did that for our trip last June and got exactly that, a 5th floor unit right on the corner overlooking the DVC pool (there was a stand of trees between it and our area of the building, but they were thin enough so you still had a good view of the pool).

And if one leaned out slightly over the balcony railing and looked to the left (back towards the main Lodge building) during Wishes, you could actually see the higher fireworks!!!:woohoo:

Rooms to avoid end in xx60 or xx62. We were given xx61 -- DH figured it was at least 1/8 mile from the elevator! :rotfl:

Thanks for your help everyone. And I did overstate Vicki's response to how bad the views were. I was just shocked that that happened at all. I can't imagine saving up for the villas only to get there and have a view of the dumpsters, roof, etc. Thanks again. Otherwise, the love the theme there. And in my mind, I can take the boat to MK, walk to the TTC, and then monorail over to Epcot. Is that all in my mind though or is that feasible?

To monorail over to Epcot you need to either take a boat to MK or CR then the MK or resort monorail to the TTC and then the monorail to Epcot. You cannot walk from MK to the TTC.

It's feasible and a fun trip but it will take longer than just taking the bus from VWL to Epcot.

I think the only resort you can walk from to the TTC is the Poly.

No problem, by the way, I wasn't poking at you - just didn't want to get piled on by the VWL Lovers! :goodvibes

As others said, no way to get to the TTC directly from the WL - you can only do that @ the Poly. Really, VWL/WL transportation is not bad at all. You have the boat direct to MK, or a bus (very quick), or a boat that runs Contemporary-Ft.Wilderness-Wilderness Lodge which can use earlier in the morning than the MK direct one (and you can go to the CR to catch the monorail to the TTC). Then of course, buses to the other parks.

Our stay in Jan we had a 2 bedroom. We were on the 5th. floor, which I requested. We too were on the end of the hallway. We were the second room from the end and the walk was long, but it was quiet, so we enjoyed it. We stayed 5 nites and only saw one family once on our floor and it was on our day of departure. At nite walking down that hall it was like a scene from The Shining :rotfl2:, but we did love it. We also did face the woods by the lake, and we had a break in the trees, I think from a previous storm and we could see the Electrical Water Parade that is on the lake. It was nice, since we had cold weather and did not go out alot at nite.

I hear a lot of people requesting the 5th floor. Is that the floor with the enclosed balconies?

This has all been very helpful. I know now to try for the wood view on the lake side. And not to expect as flashy a view as from the lodge but for us the extra space will really be worth it.

I think the only resort you can walk from to the TTC is the Poly.

One can also get to the TTC from the Grand Floridian, since there is a walkway which connects the GF and Poly (which I used last month). It's actually a short walk between those resorts.

Technically, you can walk from the WL to the Poly. . .only there aren't any sidewalks. lol If you're adventurous, you could always walk to the Poly, but it is admittedly a very busy intersection where you turn off the main road toward either WL to the right or the Poly/GF to the left. You'd have to navigate that without benefit of a crosswalk. In fact, in my zanier moments, I've often thought how cool it would be for Disney to put in sidewalks from the WL to the intersection, then put a pedestrian bridge over that entire intersection. It would open up the monorail a bit more for those who don't mind walking or allow guests to walk to their ressie at Kona, for example. Yeah, yeah, I know it will never happen. . .;)
