This trip in March is a surprise for my DD12. Our flight leaves at 5:30 Friday March 26. My daughter gets on the bus for school at 7:00 and I leave the house at 7:30 to head to work, but I took that day off. The plan is for me to finish packing and load everything in the back of the car before she gets home from school.

We live about 40 minutes from the airport we fly out of and pass by it when we head to the city to shop or go out for dinner. We always joke when we go by the airport "where should we fly today?" and DD ususally says "Florida". When DD gets home from school I will tell her that I got off work early that day. Then when DH gets home from work I am going to say that we need to do some shopping and head out. Of course when we get close to the airport the usual "where should we fly today?" will just have to be said and when DD replies "Florida" I'll say ok and DH will turn in to the airport. I think that DD will absolutely freak out!!!! I can't wait to see the look on her face!

DH and I have been planning this trip since last October. He is very good at keeping secrets but I'm about bursting at the seams!!:yay: I can't believe that I have been able to keep this secret from her this long and haven't let it slip yet. Only 50 more days to go!! I hope it gets here soon! But I still have so many things yet to do :scared1:

I wish I was where you are!! Please keep us updated on how your daughter responds to this. I am so excited for you.

wow...that is awesome...

My two kids do not know we are going for Easter week...I have told them that I may have to go to Florida and validate financials for a company we are buying...we also have another family meeting us there...we are going to just happen to run into them at a gas station on the way down and ask them if they want to spend the night in teh same hotel with us since they are goignto see friends at the beach there...then the next morning while eating donuts at a offsite hotel, they will ask my kids if they want to go to Disney instead...they are going to flip (DD4 and DS7)...trying to keep this all bundled up is the hardest thing to do...47 days left...

Awww..that is so cool! I love hearing the details of the surprise stories!

For my DS (6) first trip (11/08) he knew about it and we planned it and had a countdown calendar. Since it was his first trip, he really didn't know what to expect. The second trip (9/09) was a countdown trip too and this time he knew what to expect and he was so excited. I thought then we wouldn't be back for a little while longer since he's in Kindergarten now and we always talked about going in the Spring to see the pretty flowers (for me at least!).

When I was re-reviewing his school calendar I noticed he had a Friday and a Monday off in April and an early release day on the Thu before. I started thinking, then planned this April trip last December. IT'S A SURPRISE! At first I wasn't 100% - I figured it didn't hurt to put down the deposit. I knew I wouldn't be able to cancel it though! :rotfl2: It's been really hard to keep this a secret from him BUT I figure I can really only surprise him once. Like you, we often make comments when we're near the airport or see planes - "I wonder if they're going to Disneyworld"? We plan on picking my DS up from school early (that'll surprise him alone) so he gets credit for the entire day and then once we have him in the car the plan is to have him open a box and I'm going to have a Mickey head balloon in there and hopefully it'll fly out and then we'll say - surprise - we're going to Disney-NOW!! He keeps talking about us going NEXT year and he'll often say,"I miss Disney". As it gets closer now, I feel so excited - especially about the reveal! :) :lovestruc

My hardest challenge is packing. I'm the type that likes to collect things in a container about a month before leaving (sunscreen, wipes, snacks, etc) so I have to figure out where to store it. I need to get stuff to pack too so will you only pack the day you're leaving? I know I can't pack in like 2 hours for us so I think I'll slowly take some of his Spring clothes and start storing the outfits together somewhere. Any ideas? :)

Hang in there - you're so close!! I've almost slipped so many times!

Well, somehow DH and I have managed to keep this a secret since October and now we only have 4 more days!! It helps that we didn't tell very many other people until just this past weekend!

I started "collecting" things for the upcoming trip for several weeks now (like sunscreen, bandaids, etc.) and hid them away. I also had to order practically a whole new summer wardrobe for DD as she has outgrown all her shorts from last summer! Luckily we went to a waterpark for New Year's Eve so she helped me pick out a new swimsuit for her then. Otherwise I have ordered everything online and had it shipped to me at work. Then I had to sneak it into the house. I couldn't have her try on the clothes so one evening when she was at basketball practice I was comparing waistlines with her jeans, etc. Then I washed and dried them and packed them quickly during another basketball practice. Whew! I sure hope these new clothes fit her (and that she likes them!!).

I started packing my clothes and DHs last Thursday when I had the afternoon off work. Now on Friday morning, I need to pack all the "last minute stuff" then it's off to the airport and the big reveal Friday after school!! I really can't wait to see the look on her face!! :scared1: I think that she will be shocked!

now it's 3 days! i'm so excited for you guys - hope you have a fabulous time :thumbsup2

I've been asking my parents to surprise me for years!! :lmao: I can't imagine the feeling!
But I'm very excited for you guys!!!! You're daughter is going to be absolutely thrilled. Any way you could catch it on camera? It'll be entertaining for us and a great memory for you. :upsidedow

That is so special!! I can't wait to hear how it goes!! we are going to surprise my daughter too.. I am thinking of doing the balloon thing

 Yay for your secret trip!! I am so envious of the parents who are able to keep a secret trip a secret! DH and I can never do it. We're always just bursting to tell someone of an upcoming WDW trip and since the rest of our families don't GET the whole Disney thing, it's always "Hey, Kids! Guess what?"

We were supposed to keep our upcoming November 28 trip a secret. DH and I had this plan that while sitting around the table on Thanksgiving Day we would say something like, "We're thankful for this and we're thankful for that and we're thankful that we'll be in Disney World on Sunday ..." But once the CM wished DH "a magical day" over the phone after booking (and the giggling and jumping up and down like loons that followed), all secret bets were off.

Someday we'll manage to keep a WDW trip a secret. Someday.

Have a wonderful time!! :)

We are surprising my ODD with this trip we have planned too. We are leaving the day before her 6th birthday (pulling her out of school early that day) and heading down there. We're driving so we won't actually get to WDW until the next morning but how fun to be walking down Main Street for your birthday?! I can't wait. I've been thinking about how we're going to surprise her too. I don't know if we're going to just give her an "early" birthday present and it be her autograph book or pin laynard or princess dress. Something Disney World related. I can't wait!!!

I hope y'all had a great trip! Can't wait to hear how the surprise goes.
