Only 5% discount on Value and Mod?

Decided to do a sort of last minute trip for May 15-18. I called yesterday to check on the AAA room-only rate for Pop Century and POFQ. The cast member told me I had a PIN code on my name (yay!) and she would check that rate and the AAA rate.

She quoted me $399.27 for Pop and $659.82 for POFQ. She also said the AAA rate was the same price for both.

After looking at the regular price for Pop ($418.50) and POFQ ($692), it looks like the discount was right around 5% for both. I thought it would at least be 10%... so I'm a little disappointed. Is the discount small because the reservation is so last minute? Would it be worth it to call again today and get a second quote?

In case anyone was wondering, I called again today and asked them to check the AAA rates again.

I don't know what the cast member looked at yesterday, but I got much better rates today. For POP she quoted me $380.04 (almost $20 less than PIN code rate) and for POFQ $595.68 (about $65 less!).

So we are now booked at POFQ instead of POP! I guess it pays to double check.

Yes, it does. There is a wide variance in the skill set of the CM's who book rooms, and if I don't like what I'm hearing with one, I definitely call back and try another. These days, unless I'm booking a bounceback, I tend to book online more than over the phone, just because I know what I'm getting that way. I know you can't book the AAA discount through Disney online, but I can go to the AAA website and get a quote so I know what the rate would be to compare with the Disney offers.
