Only 40 hours to sleep and plan a surprise trip!

We decided tonight to go to WDW this weekend, and we'll be leaving on thursday as soon as my son and I get home from his MRI. My kids have no idea and think we're headed to Pensacola or San Antonio. They'll be so involved in TV and GBA that they should be oblivious to our route. I'm usually a very detailed, anal planner. I need to get hotel first thing tomorrow and see about a PS for a character meal or Easter b-fast at Whispering Canyon (dreaming, I know!). I love the spontanaity, but someone puh-lease talk me out of embroidering matching T shirts for our "stealth assault" as my dh and I are calling it.

If anyone has any advice from seat-of-the-pants trips, I'd love to hear it!

The one suggestion I have is to check out this thread over on the resorts board: Resort Board
It is about getting the Swan/Dolphin and some Downtown Disney Hotels on Hotwire. Great prices!

Thanks for that info. It made me take a look at the military rates for the Dolphin. I could've gotten an SOG discount at Coronado Springs for $109 ($119 through CRO) but opted for the Dolphin at $129 (plus $10 nt). Why don't they just say it's $139?

Wow Travelitis... a "weekend" trip! and you are driving from TX? How do you plan on doing it? How long of a drive, etc.

I've never thought about heading that way for a weekend... we normally fly. But with airfare so $$$$ these days, we may be driving that direction come November.
