I am thinking there is now way I can get to all four parks with my 4 year old son in just 3 days. So other than MK, which ones should I try to concentrate on. I know we will spend the most time in MK, but if I have to sacrifice one(or two) which one should it be.

This is our first trip and I am so overwhelmed!! I just want him to the most out of it.

first remember that it is better to see a small percent of what is there and enjoy it, rather that try to see everything and not enjoy anything. Three days is a short trip but you still do not want to put your child in over load. You will get lots of opinons on this but this is my take. If you have hopper passes, I would spend the better part of two days at MK and then go to Epcot each of those two evenings. (Epcot often stays open latter). The third day I would spend at AK and then hit MGM that evening and try to see fantasmic. If you only have 1-day passes. I would spend one day each at MK. AK, and Epcot. Hope that this trip is a blast.

It will take a full day at the MK and maybe a second for little ones. He may like some of the shows at MGM/DS. Epcot may be too much for him. AK he would love I think.

I'm going to have to vote pretty much what everyone else said. If it was me? With a child that age and only 3 days?
I'd do MK during the day for 2 days- hitting Epcot in the evenings if you have the park hoppers to do so and if your child is up to it. And then AK the 3rd day.
(no, I take that back. I'd do MK/Epcot one day, then AK the next, then MK again. I'd have to do MK on the last day also! LOL)

I really liked MGM- don't get me wrong.... but my son was barely 5 last year and that was NOT his favorite park. To him it was all baby shows (that the younger one enjoyed immensely) or rides that were cool that HE couldn't ride (not tall enough) but his older sister could. So if it was me and him alone (ie: no older or younger sister) at age 4- that would be the park I'd sacrifice on a shorter trip if I had to.
He really enjoyed AK though.... and ofcourse CAN'T skip MK! Epcot is great too- and since it closes later it's easier to make that an evening park if he's up to it. :)

If it were just me and a 4yo I'd do the first and last days at MK. At least one of those evenings I'd go over to EPCOT and do Spaceship Earth, Test Track if he's tall enough, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, and Illuminations. The middle day I'd do MGM in the morning, and make sure to see MuppetVision 3D and whatever else he's interested in. There are TONS of characters at MGM, too. Then I'd go to AK for the afternoon.

I'd also schedule character LUNCHES. They give you an extended air-conditioned break during the day. We love Crystal Palace at MK, for instance.

I've done several one, two, and three day trips with my kids. Our LONGEST trip was 4 days. There is no way you can see everything, so just pick the highlights and be flexible. You might want to let your son watch planning videos, the Disneyland Fun Sing-A-Long video, etc. and get his ideas. He could even look at the pictures in Birnbaum's Disney World For Kids by Kids, and you could read him the descriptions and kids' comments.
