Online waitlist question - Adding a night

I have 5 nights booked in Dec at a BLT Studio Lake View and want to add a 6th night for the same type of accomodation but it's unavailable. If I waitlist the 6th night and get it, will the night automatically be added to my existing ressie so I wouldn't have to change rooms? Thanks for any help with this.

When my wait list came through, it was a separate reservation #, but I was able to call MS and they "merged" the reservations.
