Online Surveys beware!!!!!!!

You are absolutely right - I don't know which survey specifically, but due to the timing of the charge and through help from AT&T we've deducted it was generated from quick rewards network. I do not give out my cell phone number, but often check mail via phone and take surveys via smart phone. Number could be generated back to companies through participation.

wow. i'll be more careful now. thanks op.

Couldn't tell you if my $9.99 charges are from a survey or not, but a real irritant. I rarely give out my cell number to anyone. My charges are per text (rather than per month)!

I called them in January about two strange texts - they blocked them and credited my account.
Then I have been getting a text roughly every three days from this one five digit number. I just ignored it, but finally thought it best to call T-MO again. When I called them they said it was a 'subscription'. I know I didn't sign up for any subscription, so not sure how this came to be. Could it have been from a survey? Don't know. But I know I didn't give out my cell number... They have said they have blocked this number... so we will see. Thankfully they are also crediting the ~ $70 of charges, too! If I a get more of these I am calling right away.

Supposedly if you get the messages you can reply "STOP" but not sure if it really works. Also have heard some folks are being charged $9.99 to send the "STOP" message. I think it is probably best to just call your service provider.

.... the down size of technology....

It could be that someone just got your cell to use as "real" fraudulent info to scam survey sites like QR, etc. (Real number, but not theirs, so it takes longer to kick back as bad).

Eventually they get caught as QR and such places have pretty good systems in place, but it could be weeks before they do.

I saw one guy post to the message board on a survey site that he doesn't even bother making emails to use for surveys, he just goes through craigslist and copies them :scared1: Be careful where you post your email address!
