Online survey from VWL

We visited VWL at the end of May, and yesterday we received a card from them asking us to take an online survey. Of course, we did!

The questions were about both VWL and WL, and didn't seem specific to DVC members or the Villas. It was the usual sort of questions -- how was check-in, how was the food, how were the CMs.

What caught our eye was at the end of the survey, there was a blurb about how it is being used. The blurb specifically says that Disney will not see the raw results of the survey, and nothing will be forwarded to the appropriate individuals. That was irritating, since each question had a comments box into which we put detailed remarks. If the survey had said that up front, we wouldn't have wasted the effort. Come to think of it, we probably would not have done the survey at all.

Peter: THANK YOU! I got the same card yesterday. My first thought was - wow! Disney may really listen to me. I mean after all the card said something to the effect that we (Disney) will pay attention to your comments and you will be heard". RIGHT!!

So I sat down and worked through the survey and saw the same "disclaimer" at the end. What?!?!?!?

I was so mad, I wanted to hit the BACK button to erase everything I did for the last 1/2 hour. What a rip!!!

I did send an email to the Disney email address they listed saying I felt it was a case of misrepresentation and I didn't appreciate being "used."

We also received that survey after we went in May! I had some legitimate gripes, and was not happy with the blurb at all! I really wonder if Disney does read them? Maybe just a chance for survey takers to vent?

I wouldn't be to concerned about that disclaimer as it's not that uncommon. Usually an independent agency will do the survey and supply a summary. If on the survey someone told a horrendous story about a cast member and the resort tried to fire that CM there would be trouble as nothing had been proven-just here-say on an informal survey.

That's actua;;y not that unusual. My company pays for surveys and what we receive is the blinded rsults, aggreagate, and the comments for each section. We (at least) do get the comments for each and every question and we do have people who read each and every comment looking for common themes or issues.

I took one after recently returning from Hilton Head. I don't think we should defend Disney on this one. It is a cop out to hire a survey company. If they are really interested in feedback they would assign the task to a representative responsible for management of the individual resort and not take the lazy way out and get watered down information from a third party. When we all have guests at our homes we don't hire third party vendors to get a sense of whether people had a good time. The reason Disney has "magic" is because we usually receive "individual" attention form cast member while at the resorts. Sisney ought to go back an re-evaluate this one unless their goal is to irritate people.
