My DVC magazine arrived this morning. One of the articles said that DVC online ressies will be ready to go this winter.

Hopefully that holds true.

Cool, I skimmed my Disney Files last night and didn't see that. I'm still not sure how well online booking will work but if they can get the bugs worked out of it, it should be great.

I expect this is something that will be announced at the meeting today. At last years meeting it was promised in 2011. I have mixed feelings about it - Disney doesn't have a great track record with IT.

A tweet from the anual meeting saty starting gradually from Jan 19th 2012

So far we have on-line booking and point re-allocation. Where is the Doc?

DVCNEWS tweet said it will be limited or gradual use at first.
OOPS - saw that was already posted above.

I wonder how many people will be able to use the online booking in January?

We have some exciting news. Soon you'll have the opportunity to make your Resort reservations online!
In order to ensure a quality experience, online booking will begin to be introduced next month, starting on January 19. We'll gradually increase the percentage of Members able to make online reservations each day. So in the not too distant future, when you reserve a Disney Vacation Club Resort, we hope you'll try online booking and enjoy the convenience of this new feature.

Not good IMHO.
They are starting this just as the holiday bookings for 2012 are 11 months out. How are they choosing who will be allowed to do online and those who still have to call in?

When you make that reservation and Disney's IT LOSES it... no whining allowed. You have been warned. You got what you asked for.... the worst IT shop in the industry will deliver thier usual 'stellar' product.
Me.... I am staying away for MONTHS!

I agree. If I had an important reservation, I'd be calling. It will be crazy at first, people will get on and "play", slowing it down.

Only Disney would advertise this as something "EXCITING. I try hard not to laugh at stuff like this, but really!

The rest of the hospitality industry has had online booking for 20 years! It's the minimum expected industry standard. DVC coming to the party 20 YEARS LATE is progress???

And other posters are absolutely correct -- the first few months (or decades) will be a nightmare.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it is a matter of them choosing who can use it, but rather that they are going to only allow so many reservations for each time period to be made online. Probably helps them mitigate the disaster if something goes wrong.

I'm interested in seeing how the online reservation system will work. And how we'll choose our vacation points for that reservation.

I am little courious also to see how this works too. But maybe they have the bugs worked out of it.

:lmao:on-line ressies this should be good:rotfl2:I'll be :surfweb: I can't believe this is happening:scared1::eek:

I do really hope it works but I think it's going to bomb and then all those who tried to make on-line ressie will be on the phone tying up MS while we others are trying to make our ressies:laughing::laughing:

BINGO!!! As it is now, you are in a death competition for standard rooms over the busy times of the year. Each and every time, once i had my reservation i had the CM check again and all rooms were gone... How will they handle this with online reservations... What is the process? What dictates 11mo out (12:01a?)? Just makes a difficult process even more complicated when you are trying to get those "hard to get" rooms.

If they are smart (and nothing would indicate that this is so) they would just give members the screens that MS uses. With current web technologies, real-time occupancy for your chosen hotel should be available. I doubt very much that they'll allow you to select which room you want but they might let you 'hold' a reservation while putting on a request.
