Hey everyone! We have only camped at the Fort once in 2008 with an old RV that we have since had to sell.

I'm starting to think about doing tent camping, maybe in the fall. However, there seems to be very few weekends open. Is this the norm? I found the weekend before Thanksgiving open, ironically! Also, I wasn't able to look beyond December. When do they normally open the reservations for next year?

We haven't bought anything yet, but I'm thinking of the Coleman Instant for 8 so that we'll have plenty of room for our family. We might buy one sometime towards the end of summer and test it out in the backyard before we make ressies.

Just trying to plan ahead as a typical Dis'er!

Online system will be up for 2012 in August sometime. You can make reservations 500 days out by phone.

Denise is right.

Spring and fall weekends (when tent camping is pleasant) fill up with locals and in-staters like yourself that can come in for the weekend. So keep trying is all I can say and also if you can get away for mid-week stays you might have better luck.

Stay at it and you might be able to get what you want.

Thank you! Both of your comments are exactly what I was looking for :).

Now, the other thing that you need to keep in mind is that the Disney reservation system is biased against short stays. Enter 3 days into the system and it may reply that there are no sites available. Enter 14 days into the system that encompass the same 3 days you looked for originally and - it magic, sites are available.

It is not uncommon for folks to make a longer reservation then call back later and delete unwanted days. You may have to play around with it a little to make it work, but many times it does.:confused3

Tim is absolutely right (as always). :cool1: I had forgotten about that.

We just got back from 7 days at the Fort and even though we had requested loop 100 we got 1100 and had no one around us until the last night. Saw many empty sites last week.

What type of site did you book? Preferred or Premium?
I specifically booked a Preferred site so I could guarantee being in Loops 100, 200 or 300.
