Can anyone tell me how this works? How early can I do it? We are traveling with friends and would like to be in sites next to each other. Will we both need to do online check in at the same time? We leave in two days and the wife is wearin' me out about the little things.

Usually the way to get near another party is to "link" reservations. That is, each of you make a reservation, get your reservation number, then swap those numbers and each add the other's ressie number to your ressie. But your reservations have already probably downloaded to the Fort for pre-assignment. And it's probably unlikely you're beside each other if you didn't do this.

At this late date, I would suggest trying to call the Fort front desk directly armed with both reservation numbers and see if they will move one of you beside the other.

IIRC on-line checkin can do things like requesting a certain loop or near a comfort station. But I don't recall getting next to someone. Maybe it can, I don't know. We usually got an email 10 days before arrival with a link to early checkin. Now with My Disney Experience (MDE), I think that is the future.

Anyway I would call at this point. Don't want the wife to get on you too bad. We hubbies got to stick together! :3dglasses

I'm pretty sure we linked the res together when we made them way way back early in the year. I'll call just to make sure though.

Normally if your part of a grand gathering (link reservations) you are next or very near each other (across the way, etc.) We had one year with 4 sites on a grand gathering that had us very far apart, a few minutes with the CM up front and that was remedied though it took a day and a move for everyone to get closer together.
