Online checkin with multiple reservations

We made a reservation for 7 nights, then a month ago added a night on at the beginning of the trip.

I've called to make sure that the reservations are tied together (they are.) But, on the DVC website, I still see two reservations (one night and seven nights).

When I do online checkin, I'm planning on checking in for the one nighter (the first night). Do I also checkin for the second reservation? Or is this not necessary because I've already checked in for the first one which is tied to the second one?

I just called MS for another reason and asked this question.

Because the reservations are linked, I use the online checkin for the earliest reservations (the one I will be arriving on), and that will get me checked in for the rest of our stay.
