Online checkin- linked reservations - 60 days questions

So I'm stumped.

I have two reservations for a BLT Lake view: one for Feb 27-Mar 4, and the other for Mar 4-7. I had to make separate reservations because I bought 2 resale contracts, and each one had full banked points that needed to be used.

So I called MS a few weeks ago to have the reservations linked, and to add my room requests. At the time, the CM told me that I wouldn't be able to use online check-in with linked reservations, and I didn't think much about it.

But with the new My Disney Experience app and the ability to check-in 60 days ahead of time (presumably to be able to start booking FP+'s eventually), that got me thinking about the disadvantages of not being able to check-in online...

So, the first question, is it correct that I can't use online check-in if I have linked reservations? We won't be arriving until about 11 pm, and I'm concerned that such a late arrival would affect the ability to grant my room requests.

Yesterday, when I logged on to the old DisneyWorld website (I'm in Canada), I actually got the prompt to check-in. Today it's gone (?). In any case, it won't pull up both reservations, just the Mar 4-7 one (but it shows up twice). And I can't find the online check-in link on the new DVC site.

On the My Disney App for iPad, I was able to link the other reservation (Feb 27-Mar 4), but it keeps crashing when I try to add the second reservation. Or when I try to add the guest names (error: information doesn't match guests on file). Or when I try to edit my guest information to match what is on file.... Well, you get the picture :)

Any insight?

The member website will not show the on-line check-in link until 10 days. The Non-DVC Resorts at WDW are the only ones to "officially" roll out the 60 day on-line check-in window.

If you want to try, you may be able to complete on-line check-in if you use the link below and enter you reservation information:
MyDisneyReservation.com

I don't believe that completing on-line check-in makes any difference in getting room requests.

Each end of your reservation has a different reservation number. They are linked in the system so that the resort will know that you should not change rooms while there. The new check-in system has had system problems that are unrelated to your having two reservation numbers and thus the problems you are having may have nothing to do with having two. Moreover, DVC check-in appears to be still subject to the 10 day rule. Nevertheless, you cannot do a complete, one-time check-in with two different numbers. What you could do is check-in on-line with the first reservation number for the days on that reservation. However, I do not know the impact, if any, of doing so would have on the previous linking of the reservations.

FWIW, supposedly I have been able to check in for two of our DVC reservations for our upcoming trip, and I did it well in advance of 10 days. Of course, just like before, there's no proof that I've done it (because it continues to invite me to check in), but it took me through the process, allowing me to make requests in "check the box" form with very specific choices based on the actual resort.

This was through the WDW site.

I haven't been able to do the last one because it just tells me the server is busy, even when I just try to click in to SEE my reservations.

So who really knows if it's just the growing pains of the website they are changing in front of our eyes, or reality, or the way it was, or the way it's going to be.... Who knows if I really did online checkin or if it's just an illusion, who knows if linked reservations can or can not, or will or will not be able to, have online checkin before 10 days... It seems to be all in flux. And I refuse to trust the website or, actually, CMs who aren't the IT people. Only the IT people know where all of this is going...and they don't seem to be talking to anyone right now. (which now makes me picture the IT people as the dog in the Bush's baked beans commercials...which kinda makes sense, actually)

My trip is in a week. I have 2 linked reservations and I could not do online check-in. I tried many times for 2 days. I sent contact message via DVC member website and then called MS. MS said I could not do online check-in because of the linked resies, so she took my room request on the phone. Then, several days later, I got an e-mail reply from the contact message I sent via the DVC member website. Message said "clear your cookies and try again and if that doesn't work just do regular check in when you arrive at the resort". Well okie dokie. All I wanted was to make a room request anyway and I did that when I called MS...I don't really mind checking in at the resort. I just thought the reply was a bit of a dud.
