online check in

do they automatically charge your card with the online check in?

What do you mean? Charge your credit card? Like if you were to use your key to the world card to charge things?

First off.. you don't have to give a credit card when you do online check in. But if you do it will be put on file so you can charge things to your room. Depending on where you stay will dictate what your limit is. Once you reach your limit or check out (whichever comes first) they will charge your card for whatever you spend. If you don't charge anything to your room then you won't be charged anything. If you don't want to put a credit card on file and have room charge privileges then don't put a credit card on your reservation.

First of all, unlike what the previous poster said, when you do online checkin now, you either have to verify your card already on file or add in a new one for charging privileges to your room.

To answer your question, no. They do not charge your card. They place a $1 hold on your card to verify that it is a valid card. This is from experience when I checked in last week. Oddly enough, (I had 2 separate reservations) the reservation that I needed to change the card on, the placed the $1 hold. On the reservation that I left the card on file, the $1 hold was not placed on it.

So you if you checkin online you have to put a cc no matter what? I have never done online checkin, I never put a cc for charging privilges either. So just wondering because I was going to do online checkin this year..

I was not given a choice, because I really wanted to not have a cc on file for the one night we were staying room only. Since they didn't give me a choice, I used a prepaid Walmart debit card I usually use for gas.

you will have to put a CC number on file when checkin online however when you get to the resort, you can remove that card from the file. We did that and loaded our room key with gift card.

I just did online check-in a couple of days ago and I did not have to list a credit card. I am sure Disney has mine on file when I made the room deposit but you are not required to enter a CC number. It is only if you want the convenience to charge to your room.
