Where can DVC members staying on points do online check in? through DVC site or can it be done through Disney.com? can't find anything on the DVC site however I sometimes find it hard to find stuff I am looking for on there?

If you do online check-in is there any possibility to request a change your allocated room once you arrive in the resort?

Not that I'm anticipating a problem, just that I like the fact that we're sometimes given a choice of locations within the resort when we check in 'normally'. Does online check-in waive that option?

One time when I used online checkin it for some reason didn't take my credit card info via the website and therefore no room charge privileges on arrival. It absolutely wasn't a problem for them to add it and re-print my keys so there is certainly an element of flexibility there.

If you prefer to have your a choice of room on arrival then I'm not actually sure there's any benefit to online checkin for you. When you arrive, you show your ID, they turn around, pick up your folder and pre-printed keys that's already sitting there ready and then you head off to your room. It's super speedy.

In light of how easy it was to fix my room charging issue I'd say likely that it wouldn't be a problem if you then asked about other room options as normal however it does seem to negate the 'pick up your keys and go' concept as you're basically reverting to the normal style of check in.

Just my 2 cents :)

Thanks for the feedback - just what I was looking for! :thumbsup2

I wasn't sure how the online process would speed up check-in, as it never seems to take very long anyway (although of course it always seems that the people in front of us take forever! ;) ). Now that you've mentioned about entering cc details online, I can see how that would help.

I am trying to take a more laid-back approach this trip (having already been thwarted twice by the volcanic ash incident I'll now just be pleased when we finally arrive!) but, because DD and I won't have a car, room location is a little more important to us than it would otherwise be.

I'm still undecided! :scratchin

They also skipped the pep talk about all the park hours, ticket options, room charging etc that they normally run through when handing over your folder with the leaflets and maps in (which I'm always too polite to cut them short on even though I know about it already, LOL). I think it's taken as read that if you're savvy enough to know about online checkin in the first place, you've been there before or have done your research and don't need to be run through the basics.

I've missed where you're re-booked in to, OKW? I assume you've got a room request on your reservation already? One thing about online check in is there's no option to add specific room requests there. You only get a little radial dial for 2 options which are ground floor and/or near bus stop though.

We will be in OKW for the first five nights and, yes, that's where I'm probably most interested in room location. It's also the one we will be checking into relatively late (maybe not until about 9pm), which is another reason I'm tempted to try online check-in.

Then we move to BLT where I'm happy to take whatever we're given, and then on to SSR where I have couple of locations I'd prefer not to be, but nothing too crucial.

I assume you've got a room request on your reservation already?
Our original OKW reservations (pre-volcano, and also the first re-booked post-volcano) were both for near HH, but there were no rooms left in that preferred category by the time we re-scheduled for the second time (and I was just amazed and delighted to be offered anything, anywhere, by that stage! ;) ). Our current reservations all have a request for a high floor, but nothing more.

Thanks for this info - I wondered whether I would be able to add any requests here. I like the idea of 'near bus stop', so may go with that.

At the end of the day, room location isn't going to make or break our trip - it'll still be DVC, WDW and FL! :cheer2: :yay: :cool1:

Gotcha! And yes, you poor thing, you've been through so much with the volcano's, just nice to finally get there huh?

Probably not much help here as it's such a small sample size, but twice I have just relied on the 'near bus stop' option for a request and both times we were literally just across the way from the stop so worked very well for us.
