Online check in when renting points

I know I can do the online check in with my reservation number but because we are renting points does it make anything more confusing? I need to cancel one of the people coming with us but didn't know if I could do it online since I'm checking in then so I should have control over the changes once we're checked in, right? I've never rented points before so I don't want anything to go wrong but I'd like to be checked in before we leave just to make sure the room is there for us when we get there...kind of just reassuring if we are already checked in, since I'm not the one who made the reservation. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

The front desk is unable to change names on the reservation. If you are not doing a dining plan, just leave them on there unless you need to add someone else.

If you really need to change names, the owner you rented from needs to do that before you arrive.

Not true. You cannot change anything ever, only the member can.

Even after you arrive at the resort, the resorts computer system will not let them change names on the reservation.

It really doesn't matter if you only need to cancel one person and not add another. Just do your online check in , get the keys and go on your way. No one counts the number of people actually there so just tuck that key away somewhere especially if it has charging on it. If you have the DDP that is a different matter as that person would have to be cancelled and that amount refunded to whoever paid for it. Of course you could use the extra credits if it is not cancelled. I would probably tell them at the front desk that XXXXX could not make the trip after all and see what they say. They are not going to cancel your reservation since the rest of you are there. It really is only a matter of the extra key and of course an accurate head count for Disney as to how many are in the room. Hope you have a magical trip.
