Online Check-in/Room Requests

We've always had great luck getting our room requests in the past. But, the last time we visited WDW was just before Online Check-in started. So, I'm wondering what are some tips and tricks to making sure my requests are seen?

Right after I booked the room, I called Guest Service and asked for my requests to be noted on my reservation. I've already completed the online check-in, but I didn't see the requests noted anywhere. Nor did I see an opportunity to fill in a blank with requests - just the few check boxes with generic requests, none of which were of interest to me.

I'll probably call again to make sure my requests are still noted on the reservation... but, if it's all done by computer, is anyone even looking at those?

Thanks!

I always do online check in. Call and ask that they email a confirmation. If you have made a request, it will show up on the emailed confirmation. In that case, your request will be seen.

I have always done my requests like this, done online checkin since it started, and always gotten my requests. I am sure one day my luck will wear out, though.

Great! I'll call again to confirm and ask that they email me the confirmation. Thanks so much!

In all of the email confirmations I have received, I've never once been able to see my request notated. From my understanding, the request is noted in a "notes" type section of the reservation and is not part of the email confirmation that is sent out. Unless you are referring to something else.

What you saw at online check-in, is what you are supposed to see. There is no place to add requests other than checking the boxes of generic requests, and there is no place to view any requests you have called and made. That coincides with what I have read about requests being notated in a spot for CM notes.

From my experience with online check-in, it has been their first priority to get me into a room that will be ready at my arrival time. And if the room that will be ready also meets my requests, then that's looked at second. I would rather wait for a room that meets my requests than have a room ready when I arrive that does not meet my requests, so I no longer do online check-in. In the past, I have requested my room to be switched at the online check-in counter and it was not a problem, although the new room assigned was not ready right away.

Hmmm... well, we are arriving at 10 PM, so that should bode well for our room request being ready... assuming, of course that lots of other people didn't make similar requests and take up all the rooms. :)

Actually, the later you arrive, the less of a chance to get your request. CMs move people around throughout the day as they check in, so when you arrive, the inventory of rooms to choose from may be limited. Yes, they assign rooms ahead of time but those assignments change as people arrive and requests different rooms, etc. I always arrive before 3pm, so my room isn't physically ready always when I arrive which is what I was referring to. But arriving at 10pm, you won't have to wait for a room to be ready.
