My sister and I are traveling together in the same stateroom, meaning we're both under the same reservation. When we check in online, do we have to do it together at the same time? She lives in NJ, I live in IN... can we check in separately, or does one of us have to handle it for the both of us?

you would need one person to do it all at the same time. the check in isn’t complete until all documents are submitted. it’s pretty easy though just make sure the person doing the checking kn has photos of both passports and an ID photo, from the shoulders up, of both passengers as well.

There is no reason that you can’t each upload your own documents. You don’t have to complete all aspects of online checkin at the same time as long as one of you completes the process for the both of you. You could have her upload her documents and then you could upload yours and complete the other steps.

If you want to choose a port arrival time and be assigned a boarding group, everyone has to be loaded. It’s just easier for 1 person to have pictures of everyone’s identification and the “selfie” photo. You can always go in and edit things later.

Thank you! :)

Thank you, knowing that about completion of the process is very helpful. :)

So you have to have a photo OTHER than your passport photo?
Yes. You need a picture of your passport, and you also need a picture of you. Shoulders up, no hats, if you have glasses make sure there is no glare. This is the "ID photo" that will show up every time you scan your KTTW card. It cannot be the same as the photo used for your passport.
