Online check in question

I don't see why not. If you really need to cancel, you can do so. After online check-in is within 10 days of expected arrival, so definitely within the penalty phase if you have a package. If it's a room-only reservation, I think you have until about 2 days prior to arrival to cancel without penalty, but check your reservation.

Sorry you have to cancel! Hopefully you can reschedule.

Oh, we don't have to cancel! DH and I were talking about online check in and couldn't figure out why anyone would NOT check in online. The only thing we could come up with is that you couldn't cancel or something. :)

I don't check in online anymore.

My last 2 stays onsite I was glad I didn't because when I arrived on DME mid-afternoon in May 2012 and Sept. 2011, the online check in lines were huge but there was only one person in front of me in May 2012 in the normal check in line and in Sept. 2011 I had only a couple of people in front of me in the normal check in line.

I was checked in and on my way to my room before most of the other people who were with me on DME were even close to getting checked in.

Another reason not to check in online is if you really, really want a specific building or whatnot at the resort. It's much easier to switch your room in the regular check in line.

So there is 2 reasons for you for not checking in online. ::yes::

I never do online check-in.

I arrive at a very busy check-out day and I usually have one or two specific requests.

I like to let the CM know I am willing to wait for my room.

I also like the opportunity to have some one-on-one time with the CM.

I just find it goes so much better and easier, and I always get what I really want.

Do you have to use the online check in line?? If you do onlie check in, and arrive, and see the line is long, but the line for regular check in is short, can you just go to that line?? :confused3

I would like to tack a question on to this thread if I may. I would prefer face to face check-in, but we will be arriving quite late (plane lands at 10:30pm) Is it safer to do online so that they know we are really coming?

Thanks!

If you do online, yes they have some idea of your arrival time, you will still do a face to face they will simply have it all ready for you in advance and it will get you to your room quicker. You just skip all the chit chat which as a frequent guest I prefer. Just give me my packet of info and my room key.

It is 5 days. We had to cancel at the last minute last year, and ended up moving our reservation so that we didn't lose our deposit.

I'm not a big fan of on line check in. When I have used it, more times than not, I've ended up in the far reaches of whatever resort I was staying at. One time I ended up with a good location.

As an AP holder, I go to WDW 4-6 times a year. I did online check in several times the first year or two it was available, but no longer use it. The reasons I don't use it are:

1. More times than not, the online check in line was longer than the regular check in line and the online check in had only one or two CMs working it.

2. I always make room requests and found I did not get them that often if I used online check in. (if you don't like your room location, you can ask for a room change even if you used online check in--however the last time I used online check in was at CSR. I did not get even close to my room request and when I asked if anything else was available, the CM got really huffy and informed me that online check in was for people who didn't really care where their room was located and just wanted to get in and out quickly. She said that since they know when they are arriving, that they try to have rooms ready for the people that do online check in, so those people get the ready rooms, not necessarily rooms in the areas they requested.) I have not done online check in since.

3. I prefer the face to face interaction and find I have gotten better rooms and even several free upgrades (never asked for an upgrade though) if I do regular check in.

I was just there Sept 1st-8th and did not do online check in. When we checked in, we found we had been upgraded from a pool view to an Arusha Savanna view at AKL and our room was still ready. We'll be going back down there Oct 27th-Nov 4th and once again we will not be doing online check in.
