We leave in 9 days for our WDW vacation. I did online check-in a few weeks ago (right after our magic bands arrived).

It's my understanding that we will be sent an email with check-in instructions to either:

1- Go directly to our room - in which case we will received a text message with room # when room is ready
2 - Go to "check-in" at a specific online check-in location in the lobby of our hotel (Boardwalk Inn)
3 - Go to the front desk for check-in

Today I received an email from Disney Destinations - subject line - About your Disney Resort Hotel arrival.

I was so excited, thinking that I'd now find out what we need to do for check-in - but instead, this email contained links to info about our resort (fun to read, but no check-in info). There was also a warning that there will be painting going on during our stay and that the monorail service will be modified (not much of an issue, since we are at an EPCOT resort).

Can I assume that there will be another email - perhaps coming directly from the resort - with check-in info? Does anyone know??

Not much else to know except your room number. That you'll get day of arrival if you made that selection on the online form. You still may have to go to the online checkin desk or the main desk. We had to this stay because the system didn't keep our CC information and we had to assign the credit card again.

They are really just telling you your options when you arrive at the hotel and its your choice to use whichever one you want when you get there. If you get your room number texted, go directly to your room, do not pass go and do not collect $200.:D

Actually, the email I got today told me nothing about check -in - I learned the various options on this board!! Our first choice would be to get a text with our room number, so we could go directly to our room (though I'll take the $200, if Mickey is offering - HA!). That was not an option that I could select when I completed the online check-in a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the info - I was under the impression that I would get the email info about what we need to do to check-in at some point before our arrival day. Now I know we need to check both email and text messages the day we arrive!

We are checking into our resort in ten days and we received the same email that you did. Disney will send out another email later in the week which will give you the information about check in. :)

Last month we got the email from WDW telling us we would get to go straight to our room & they would text the room number. That was a laugh.... All the way on our drive there I kept waiting for text, pull up at AKL & guess what room was ready but still had to go to front desk to check in. I was all excited to go straight to room, but maybe this trip we will. Although when I did online check in the screen said I would have to check in at front desk.

Thank you so much for the clarification! Looks like the weather will be great for your (and our) vacation - have a terrific time!

Appreciate hearing about this glitch - will have to warn my hubby if we get the lucky "go straight to your room" email, just in case. We booked room only, and will pay for the balance using our Disney gift cards, so I'll have to get to the front desk and apply those credits once we get there - but I'd rather do that after we have all our stuff in the room.

We have RO reservation at POR next week & we pay cash for the balance as soon as we arrive. I don't have a CC attached to pay the balance. Using the GCs for everything else though. I want to drop everything in room too & head to Disney Springs ASAP.... Lol. Have a great trip!

We have a split stay coming up, with first stop at Wilderness Lodge (checking in Friday). I received an email yesterday saying we would be notified when room (at WL) was ready and could bypass front desk. I also got a email from Boardwalk with the generic information about painting, transportation, etc. No info on check in though. Have a great trip!!!
