I'll be heading to BWVs BW view on Saturday for 9 nights.
I have never done online check in but decided to do so for our upcoming trip and registered yesterday. I also then called MS and requested exactly where I wanted to be (have stayed there before and loved my location).

Do you think I should have just registered on Satuday when we arrived?
Do you think I will be in my room earlier since I did online check in?
I have NEVER been able to get into our room earlier than the stated time of
3 pm or 4 pm, whatever the time is that they tell us. I thought this time I would give it a shot and see if I got in earlier.

Thanks.

Using on-line check-in means that you will have a shorter time at the front desk when you check-in. It does not result in getting room earlier. That may or may not happen as was true in the past. As far as any requests go, the on-line system where it takes requests is for regular Disney guests. You should as you did make any requests through MS.

I did on-line check in once, I was first in line for on-line check-in ( I was also the only person at any desk including regular check-in).
they had nothing ready, no booklet ready no ressie ready. Another guest came in to the regular counter and checked in got here papers and left, I was still waiting for my papers. Never again will I use on-line check-in

I always use online checkin and indicate exactly what time we are arriving, hoping they will assign us a room that is ready when we arrive.. We stayed at BWV in June, and arrived at 10:30. While we got our packet right away, our room was not ready until 3:00.

Room times are iffy. I seem to have the best luck getting in earlier when I travel with people that require the HA rooms, and we prebook those. I do use online check-in most of the time, but I don't think it helps or hurts in any way. One thing is, it puts your Credit Card number directly into the system. The front desk can not see the number, only that one is on file, so it is slightly more secure than handng the card to someone at the front desk...as there have been a few instances where the front desk has had skimmer in their system that stole the number by inserting a skimmer between the keyboard and the terminal...unbeknownst to some of the resort staff.

But all in all it is trust, there are times you simply have to trust that the person behind the counter is honest...and 99.9% of the time, they are trustworthy.

I've never used online check-in at BWV, there is never a line to check-in.

Requests are hard to get at BWV, I always request top floor and only got it once.

I've been probably 50/50 on having the room ready if I arrive around 1:00 or 2:00. I was there in late April, it wasn't ready until around 3:00, I got a text. The latest I ever had was 4:00.

Thanks. Can I ask why top floor? Does it keep the noise out a little bit more?

The higher you are the less you will hear anything on the boardwalk but reality is that all boardwalk view rooms are fine except for the the 2BR lock-off and 1BR that are on the first floor next to the DVC store which are at boardwalk level and thus people walking by can look right intpo the room if curtains are open. To see where the different types of rooms are on the boardwalk go here: http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/500/BWV_BoardwalkView.jpg

Thanks so much!
We had a 2 bedroom lockoff (they are all lock off right?) right in front of the basketball hoops but the balcony was solid so you could not see through it.
I LOVED the location but my only pet peeve was that I could not see through the balcony wall when sitting.

That's just WEIRD. Hasn't been our experience at all. Did you ask them what had happened? Because that's not the way it's supposed to go.

I would think that if you did online check in the paperwork would at least be ready-I think I have done it once. Our rooms are never ready-always get a text or walk around the resort for a little bit and had a cast member chase me down (extremely nice to do that) to let me know our room was ready. That was at OKW-love that place! I usually just move along like everyone else and always get the nicest cast member to help. DH and kids are never happy as I talk too much with the cast members and they are ready to get checked in or go to the parks.

I had a room above Big River on the second floor and it was noisy. It was June and people were very loud very late. My biggest fear is getting one of those couple rooms that are on the boardwalk level right next to Jellyrolls, you would have hardly any view, just looking at people walking by. So I request top floor.
