Online check in changes

It would be nice if we could write like one sentence on what requests we wanted along with checking the ones they have listed.

That is why I always phone in my requests so I can request exactly what I want and why.

When I did online check in for AOA the option for "mansions area" showed up. As we aren't staying at Riverside, thought that was kind of silly. I thought about selecting it for a minute just to see what would happen, but didn't.

I remember booking online in 2004 and there being a section where you could type in exactly what you wanted in "so many words or less" format. I wonder why they stopped doing that?

Anyone have any idea as to what "Baby Gate (guaranteed)" means? Just the availability of a baby gate in the room?? Odd wording on their part.

Shoot...I made a request with DVC Member Services for "Adjoining Rooms" for our room and my parents room at Poly next month...mostly because that was never an option offered for online check in. NOW it is. Should I do the online check in and request adjoining rooms?? Or should I just chance that our member services request will work (note: it did NOT work for us at BWV in May. We made a request with MS and got a room that gave us exactly what we asked NOT to have.

It's the same people assigning. If it didn't work then it might not have worked another way.

That's not new; they've had impossible/ridiculous things pop up for a few years now.

I'm confused. I'm about to do my online checkin for our upcoming Beach Club stay. Does "Adjoining Rooms-no connecting door" mean that you are on a single reservation, and requesting a room WITHOUT a connecting door? Or does it mean you are traveling with another party, and want rooms NEXT to each other, but no connecting door?

I have the same question (staying at BC too). I hate rooms with the connecting door. I'd make it my sole request if this is what the choice means.

That option means you have 2 reservations linked to your MDE account and you want those 2 rooms to be close to each other but not connecting.

If you don't want that interior door for your single reservation call the Main Reservations line and add that request to your reservation.

I'm curious about it also. My sister and her family are traveling with us and we each have separate reservations and we want to have adjoining rooms but aren't sure how it works when requesting during online check in. Don't want to do it if it's going to cause a bigger issue. Thinking I may be better off calling.

Yes, it's best to call. Especially since they just rolled out these new options and we don't have a big enough sample size to determine how they work exactly. Call the Main Reservations line and give the phone CM your reservation number and your Sister's. Ask them to link them in the system as "traveling with". Then put a request on both reservations to be either adjoining* or connecting*.

*Adjoining - Near each other
*Connecting - Right next to one another with an interior door connecting the 2.

How many days out do you think it would be best to call?

Wilderness Lodge choices are:
  • 2 Queen-Size Beds
  • Adjoining Rooms (no connecting door)
  • Connecting Rooms
  • Courtyard View
  • Ground Floor
  • Second Floor
  • Third Floor
  • Fourth Floor
  • Fifth Floor
  • Sixth Floor
  • Garden View
  • Connecting Rooms (guaranteed)
  • Highest Floor
  • Upper Floor
  • Lower Floor
  • Near Elevator
  • Pool View
  • Bunk Beds
  • Baby Gate (guaranteed)
Also interesting that they give you the option to decline new MagicBands in order to go directly to room. I assume this is more for last minute reservations where there wouldn't be time to ship? Part of the fun for me is getting a different color band every time I go!

This is good to see...I am still waiting to see AKL, but we have a standard view booked for March and it says we can request the bunks so we called Disney and they said they noted their system to request bunks. But if it will also be in the online check in that we want bunks and then I plan to call again 10 days before check in that we want bunks just to make sure its really on our file, LOL hopefully fingers crossed that we get bunks. Anyways my point being WL and AKL are similar as to they both offer bunks so if bunks are now on WL Online booking request maybe its on AKL as well. Heres to hoping, LOL
