This year I will be staying a night at AKL and purchased a pool view room. I am about 5 days away from online check in and I also have a touring plans subscription. When should I submit the fax request through touring plans? When I start the online check in or closer to when we actually arrive. I know it's no promise I will get the room I want but I'd figure I'd try since I'm only staying for a night.

They would have already submitted the fax on your behalf. I don't know if they still can do it or not. You are late with your request

Are you 5 days away from your trip of 5 days away from online check-in opening up (which is 60 days out)? If you're still 60 days out, you have plenty of time to do a TP fax request. Rooms are assigned roughly 5 days out, so you want to do it before then.

Yes, what @GADisneyDad14 said!

If you're still 5 days out from online check-in, you have lots of time for the Touring Plans fax. They send it in about 5 days ahead of arrival and you are emailed a prompt reminding you to fill out any info if you want to use their service. I used the fax this time, so when I did online check in I just left all of the room requests blank and relied on the fax request...which ended up giving me my priorities and worked well.

Using Touring Plans is new for me this year, but I figured since I had an AP and more trips planned I'd give it a shot...before, I'd just call Disney and verbally add any room requests I had.

Have a fun trip!!

Yes I am 5 days out from 60 days. Thank you both so much for your help! I will do that soon.

Last Summer I used the Touring Plans fax service but made the mistake of also selecting Large Balcony when I did online check in. They did not attempt to meet the requests on the Touring Plans fax and only mentioned meeting my request for the large balcony.

I will be using the TP room faxing service this year for our October trip. If I understand correctly, I need to submit it at least 65 days out, correct? If I want to request a refurbished room, do I make that my request?

You can complete your request through Touring Plans any time up until 5 days prior to when you arrive. They submit those to the room assigners. I think rooms are officially assigned at about 3 days prior to arrival. Online check-in you can do at 60 days. I would avoid room requests with online check-in unless there is one part of your TP request fax that is a priority (such as near the elevators).

Thanks ColoradoMom12. What I meant to say is on my TP request, should I have them request a refurbished room and no request on my on line check in?

If a refurbished room is not a choice on the online check-in (I don't think it is but I could be wrong), I would not make any requests for the online check-in and do only the TP request. You could also try calling and having them add the request to the reservation that way. That is the way I do it, at least. Maybe someone else has a better idea for you? Good luck! I hope you get the refurbished room!!!

@msgoofy I would follow this suggestion. Call the Main Reservation line and add a request of "refurbished room" to your reservation. That can be done anytime from the day you book up until 5-6 days out. Then just skip the room request section during Online Check In.
