Online Cancellation Question

Hi all! I am very new to DVC. We just bought into Riviera in December 2019. Our Welcome Home trip was scheduled for June. However, being a teacher, and having a September use year, I need to cancel by April 30 to be able to bank my 2019 points. So - my question is - I had a few points for our reservation we borrowed from 2020. Will those points automatically return to our 2020 use year when I cancel the reservation and then bank the points online? Or if I cancel online will those points just disappear? I'm trying to avoid a call to member services if possible since I know they are pretty overwhelmed.
 
The borrowed points will not be automatically moved online...at least they were not last week,

However, you can just do a chat with MS through the website and just ask they be moved. That is what I did when I canceled my May trip and they did it quickly. Some will also put in a request and even though they say it will take up to 30 days, some are seeing it in 24 to 48 hours.

Thanks for letting me know! I gave member services a call today - and by a miracle - someone picked up almost immediately. I would have done what you suggested if it would have been a long wait. Now I just need to be patient and wait until October for my trip...
