Online ADR's a BAD thing?

So let's be honest how many of you have booked, canceled and booked ADR's everyday? I find myself going over and over my ADR list and making changes. I look up and ADR see it's avalible and book it. Then end up canceling the other one and having to find another spot for it. So I look it up again and again and again. I LOVE this online ADR system but have become more obsessed w/ my ADR's than I ever was. My DH comes home and asks me everyday now, " So what did you add today?" I've tried to leave some ADR's open. But they seem to be filling up. Oops. Anyone else like me and play w/ this system all the time?

I have been messing with it somewhat like that, but I now have all but one of my ADR's set within 15 minutes of when I wanted it. I have been checking every day to see if a 50's Prime Time opens up for dinner on our arrival date (Fantasmic night). There is no way I would be calling Disney every single day looking for cancellations, but I love being able to pull it up on my computer every day and see if I can get lucky.

I know what you mean. I have a 9:05 ADR for Crystal Palace on our last day. I figure ME will want us at the bus stop by 12:00 - 12:30 or so but since we'll be at the Poly it won't take long using the monorail to get back.
Then I started thinking that we won't have much time after breakfast to do any rides before it's time to go, so I went online and found an 8:05 a.m. ADR. GREAT!
THEN I started thinking, well, it's our last day and maybe we won't want to get up that early. Plus we'll have to pack up and check out. So I thought I should check CP for a LATER breakfast, then I thought no, what if we don't get seated quickly I don't want to risk being late for ME. Argh.
Right now I still have 9:05 ADR. But the online system is tugging at my brain constantly....
Now would anyone torture themselves over a single breakfast ADR if they had to call a CM to check every time? Of course not!

Sort-of. I was on it a lot right when my 90 + 10 window opened, and I made a few changes. Now I have everything pretty much set, but I'm checking for Le Cellier every day. If I get that, I'll probably have to make adjustments to another meal. I do like the fact that I can do it online--I'd rather not talk to someone on the phone if I can avoid it.

There should be a cancel button when you pull up you ADR. Just click it and it will be canceled. If there isn't a button you have to call it in. I had a few I had to call in. Don't know why?

I made 17 ADRs when my 90+10 opened up. I think I still have maybe 7 or 8 of the original ADRs. I find myself constantly coming up with a new idea, how I can make my ADRs better. I even had a dream about changing my ADRs! I need help!!!

Since I'm way ahead of my booking window, I don't get to play this game yet, but I will look forward to taking it into my own hands instead of saying my head, "hurry up hurry up hurry up" LOL.

Oh, I'm constantly changing and rearranging. I'm really good about canceling and not double-booking, but I pretty much play with things constantly. We leave Friday and I've been messing around with it all morning. Heh. I LOVE the online system. Let's me indulge my inner-over-thinker.

I hope everyone who is making online reservations that they have no intention of keeping goes back online and cancels them. I didn't get any of my first choices when I tried at 89 days out (I miscalculated by one day) and have read many other posts about other people not being able to get what they wanted also. I was thinking about switching my CP reservation from lunch to breakfast and when I decided to keep the lunch reservation, I immediately went back online and canceled breakfast to open that slot back up for someone else.

I do like the online system. It is much faster and you can play around on your own and feel like you are not bugging a CM.

I have been changing things so much it's hard for me to keep track! I finally got everything organized, and lately have been trying to tweek 2 ADRs. Today I got a better day and time for one of them, so now I am down to tweeking only 1. I think I have changed or adjusted every one of my original 90 day call-ins. I don't even need to check/recheck what I need to change, I know it by heart!

At least it keeps me off the streets, out of the stores, and out of trouble!

We have not reached the 90 day window yet, another 18 days. That is when the fun will begin, 3 nights at one resort 5 at another. Can only do the first 3 at the 90 + 10 online. The rest I have to call MS when they open.

I am worried we may not get what we want because of over use of the sysytem. 2 or 3 reservation for the same time so you can make the final decision that day. With this being so easy I can see this getting abused a lot more than if you had to call in. When I called in everything seemed to be linked to my phone number and they knew if I had something already. Maybe I am thinking of the worse of my fellow person.

Me too! I spent 3 months perfecting my ADR's before my 90 day window opened up. I had it all perfect. I was even lucky enough to get all the ADR's I wanted within 20 min. of the times I wanted. But they have all been changed. Times have been moved around. Breakfasts became Lunch, Lunch became Dinner. I LOVE it just to addicted to it.

I make sure I cross things out as soon as I book them and then cancel the old one.

If you are double booked they will cancel both your ADR's. So I don't think people can't have 2 ADR's for the same time.

I started in the back of one of my DD notebooks taking notes. I messed around w/ our plans so much I had to go and get myself a new notebook. I'm halfway through the 80 pages now. I only hope that in the next 2 months I don't need another notebook.

You can't make more than 1 ADR for the same time. So you don't need to worry about it. And don't worry about calling in. I had to call in my first 20. I couldn't get my 90+10 to come up. Good Luck.

Here is why I think the on line system can be a bad thing. There is a someone on the September ADR trade/cancel thread who in the last day or so was looking to trade a Le Cellier reservation for an earlier day. Now today, he is posting that he has two more Le Cellier reservations to trade. So I am guessing that he has had at least three reservations at Le Cellier booked for his trip. I've never had this much trouble getting reservations at my favorite restaurants in the past - even during free dining.

I really think people are taking advantage and booking under other names. I found it strange for Chef Mickey how they opened up lunches because there was no availability for breakfast or dinner, now lunches all filled up, something definitely going on here. I wish the people would make up their minds and not keep these double bookings for these popular restaurants that people cant seem to get.

I never thought about this. Of course you can make an ADR w/out giving your real name. I guess I just assumed that it was all connected to your resort ressie. I never thought about the people who aren't staying on property. I guess it could be greatly mis-used that way. I'm glad I was lucky enough to get everything I wanted then. I made 2 ressies last night. Had no trouble at all. I wanted a few later times. I got what I wanted then called and cancelled my other ressies.
It can be a good thing if people don't get crazy and forget to cancel

I love it although I orginally called on my 90day mark. There were a few times I wasnt happy with so I got online and found earlier better for us times opened...booked and will cancel my others!!!!!!
