I am just so tired of going out to eat and when I want to broaden my horizons and order something different off the menu, I need to be sure to ask if it has onions in it.

So, when I forget to ask, and find the thing is loaded with onions, it ruins my meal.

Same with Lean Cuisine and Weight Watcher frozen meals. Almost all of them have onions in them. I have to scour the ingredients before I but it in my basket.

Believe it or not, there are many people who do not eat onions, and IMO, it is an ingredient that you don't need to make or break the entree.

YEAH!!! I hate onions. Even when you ask for no onions, nobody listens and then I have to sit there and pick them out of my food.

Dh loves onions and I use a lot of them in my cooking. They are actually good for you (at least that's what DH says) My Mom can't touch them or she will have an upset stomach for the rest of the day.

The one thing I don't like is DH's breath when he gets onions on his subs for lunch. The smell lingers forever.

Hubby is the same way. Worse with Bell Peppers b/c you cannot hide that taste at all. With onions it isn't so much the taste as it is the heebie jeebies he gets when he finds one.

I'm fine as long as they are cooked and really compliment a dish. But I'm not about to order a Bloomin' Onion or a Cactus Blossom or Onion Rings any time soon. Onions as a dish in and of itself doesn't make too much sense to me.

I like cooked onions but cannot eat raw onions at all - they give me migranes. The cooked ones will to if they aren't cooked enough or if I eat to many of them. I love onion rings but I have to order them extra crispy - almost burnt and then I can't eat as much as I want or I still get a headache.

:thumbsup2 Yup! I agree!

I went to Germany for a week once when I was in college. I know some German so I knew what the word onion was. We went to this little German restaurant and I saw several entrees that had onion in them, so I ordered one that made no mention of onions - mac & cheese. The waitress brings my entree, a heaping plate of mac & cheese loaded with onion. Yuck!

And another time when I was pregnant with DD#2 and extremely "morning sick" as it was, I pulled it together and took DD#1 to an amusement park for the day where we met her grandparents. We met them off-premise and drove in together. They were fully aware of my onion aversion and my bad "morning sickness" yet on our way out they each proceeded to down a philly cheesesteak loaded with onions. Not only did I throw up twice on the way home due to the smell, but the odor from their repulsive onion breath lingered in my car for the next two days.

The thing is I like garlic and scallions, just can't stand onions cooked or raw. I think it's a texture thing for me but I HATE ONIONS!

Just trying really hard not to pass down my hatred to the next generation.

I hate Coconut too, but that's another story.

Hate raw onions -does that count??? :thumbsup2

I'm allergic to them. It is almost impossible to eat out at a Mexican or Italian restaurant.

Also try finding a soup at any restaurant that doesn't have onions. :guilty:

French onion soup is my favorite. I agree with the above poster about coconut. :crazy2: I would hop on that hate train. :thumbsup2

DW MeanLaureen HATES onions with a passion! If I'm making spagetti for dinner she makes me use Ragu sauce that has been strained through a strainer to get all the little onion bits out of it. :rotfl:

I hate onions! They are nasty and slimy.
They can be so hard to avoid. Restaurants use them because they are cheap and hide a lot of flaws in food because they are so strong.
Even some of my family "forget" and use onions during family dinners. I end up just eating bread!

MeanLaureen is my HERO! :lmao:

I never thought of straining the Ragu., I just push the onions aside. I rarely serve spaghetti though. That is a "dad" dinner, when I am at work. :teeth:

They don't make an onion-free ragu???

I hate onions.
I hate the taste.
I hate the texture.
I hate the smell.
I hate the upset tummy I get after someone sneaks them into my food.

It is hard to find frozen or boxed entrees that don't have them in there. I also hate tomatoes and peppers. So all around I am out of luck. :guilty:

Hint - heat it first, it strains easier :thumbsup2

Lisa - I haven't found an onion free version. Even their Traditional flavor has small onions in it.

I don't like onions either. It is totally a texture thing with me, UGH!!!

I don't like tomatoes either, and I only like the smell of peppers. Thank goodness I am not a weirdo. I was starting to think so... :cool1:
