Does anyone know which companies offer this? The only one I could find that I could book online was Budget.

Thanks, Tonya

We did it with Hertz and they have a free shuttle and are RIGHT by the port in Cape Canaveral. I booked MCO-CC and then CC-MCO on the way down and back.

I'm pretty sure you can do it with any major rental agency. They will ask you to specify Pick up and Drop off location. I just checked the Alamo site and they do this.

It's possible the agency you are checking doesn't have availability when you need it.

The other thing to consider is the cost. Some rental companies will charge much more for the oneway rental. Fortunately, Budget is not one of those companies and I'm hoping their shuttle service is as good as I've been hearing about. I know Hertz is one of the companies that would charge more for the oneway when I checked rates.

I have a sick kid today so while she watches Phineas & Ferb and I am trying to do the math.

Hertz was crazy expensive, budget is sold out on our day, and Thrifty was $85 for the one day/one way rental.

So I am doing all the different options and picking the best one for us. So far, it is $25 cheaper to drive ourselves and do a one day/one way rental but that doesn't include gas so I feel it is a wash.

Now to look at transport companies.

Tonya

We are doing Hertz one way (twice! :)) MCO to Cape Canaveral is cheaper than the reverse. Dropping the Family at the port, then taking the shuttle back to the Dream.

I want to rent a car at port, drive it Sea World, stay overnight someplace inexpensive for one or two nights and return the car to MCO to fly home.

This is totally do-able, right? It is fine to pick up in one place and return to another? Usually cheaper for a long term rental, how will it be for 2-3 days?

Renting a car is new to me. I usually fly and take Magical Express to WDW and use only WDW transportation.

Mainegal, it's totally do-able.

I start checking prices by plugging in dates and pickup/dropoff locations on the consolidator sites - Priceline, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc - to see what the rates look like. Then start hitting the specific rental sites and use discount codes from Mousesavers. I also have a Costco memberships, so I check their rates.

For round-trips, I'm comfortable bidding Name Your Own Price on Priceline or using blind booking via Hotwire, but I don't think I'd do that for a one-way.

We did two one-way rentals with Budget last month. MCO-CC $51, CC-MCO $41. This was for a standard size car. Much cheaper than DCL transfers for 4.

mainegal, we're doing something similar next month. We're renting one-way through budget CC5-MCO for 2 days following our cruise. Driving to the HGI Seaworld Hotel for 2 nights, and will walk to SW from there (to save SW's parking fee). Like LWQuestie suggested, we found discounts through mousesavers and got a good rate. Try several different codes for the best results.
Also, after you book a rental, check their website again since the rates can change. Ours dropped by $40 a few weeks after booking, and I just changed the reservation. Good luck! (we're from central Maine too)

My corp Hertz rate got me a one way MCO to CC for $35 (LDW included). We did have to pay extra for a booster seat but we won't rent without one. This was for a full size (Impala).

If you have AAA their rates with Hertz include one child seat.
