**Okay, I did a bunch of research and got a better handle on the optimum rewards thing. I cannot use my points for gift cards (sad face) but I can get groceries and household products no problem. (I could get cosmetics and stuff too but I don't really use that sort of thing). 95,000 points gets you $170 worth of stuff and is the best value, but I'm not sure I see myself getting that much stuff in one go so I've decided to aim for 50,000 points which will get me $85 worth of stuff.

I went last night with the aim to buy two transactions worth of stuff ($30 in each one pretax) in order to earn 7000 bonus points (4000 on one transaction and 3000 on the other). At the first store I went to, they didn't have several of the things I wanted to buy so I had to reorganized on the fly. I ended up making an addition mistake (and I DID use a calculator, so I'm not sure what I did wrong) but I ended up finding out AFTER the transaction was complete that I was short by $1.08 thereby missing out on 4000 points. Dang it!

Went to a second store to try again and that store honoured the sales prices for the current flyer as well as the prices for the upcoming flyer...something I didn't find out YET AGAIN until after the transaction was finished and this time I was short by TWO CENTS!! TWO CENTS, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I was pretty frustrated but whaddayagonnado??

I'll keep working at it in March (I always get my eggs and milk there and I can try and take advantage of other deals if I check the flyer more carefully) and I'm hoping to get to the point where I have enough points and credit card rewards to get all my groceries in April for free so I can toss ALL the budget cash towards vacation...my only dilemma...which fund...Europe or Disney??
