One way plane traveling for TA?

Two years ago, I think it was on these boards, I learned about Iceland Air Comfort Class and we used it and were very pleased.

We have another TA next year, is this still a good option. This travel will be from NJ to Paris.

I assume this is for the late Sep WBTA? Reykjavik in September will be cooler but will also see fewer crowds. Still, Iceland has climbed in popularity and so have the airfares from two years ago.

Iceland Air still works. Wow Air is cheaper, but I would avoid their economy class if I could. Some of the planes are still old. Their premium/big seats should be fine.

Another option is Norwegian Air. Their premium economy class allows (I think) 150-degree reclines, and you have several airport combo options from EWR. Better onboard service than Wow.

You will see better reward ticket availability in September, so a one-way reward ticket in premium economy or business class is a great bet. For us, a red-eye flight into Europe is worth either an upgrade or an extra day just to unwind!

When we did Iceland Air we did spend two nights in Iceland which was wonderful, amazing geography!

We flew both Icelandair (Stockholm to sea) and Norwegian (sea to London) this summer. Norwegian was WAY better.

I was just looking at Iceland Air yesterday, and they got rid of or are getting rid of the high comfort level that was just under the fancy level. Comfort flex, maybe? They don’t have that anymore. In case that’s what you flew before.

If your cruise is not until next September I would avoid booking WOW or Norwegian Air until after the winter. Both, particularly WOW, are on shaky ground financially. It has been my experience that Norwegian's last minute fares are pretty much the same as booking a couple months in advance so you have nothing to gain by booking early. If you DO book on either of them, be sure to buy travel insurance. You could always take Cunard ship across the Atlantic for your one way instead of flying? Depends on the dates.

We used points so went with BA and AF for last summer's flights back and forth to Europe, but many people on our cruise went with Norwegian Air. Their prices were incredibly cheap. Everyone in my cruise group said to not go with the lowest price since it didn't include any luggage or food, but to book at least one level up from that.

Has anyone used TAP, the Portuguese airline? Newark to Lisbon to Orly? Business class is good price for our dates.

Norwegian for what we see, only has until January.

I looked at Paris - NYC on Norwegian and they are taking bookings on that route through October 19, 2019. If there are no flights showing up after January they may be dropping that route. Which they do often. I flew BOS - LGW in their Premium Class in May. It was OK. It wasn't really what I would call business class, though. Food was not good. No pillow, which you need as there's no back support on the seats. And when the person in front of you leans back you are pretty much stuck in your seat. Window folks have no way out! If I flew them again I would wait until maybe 6 weeks out, bring my own pillow and my own food AND water. We got one bottle of water and that was it. The movie selection was good though and the Dreamliner is a nice plane as far as air quality/comfort goes.

Norwegian has stopped flights out of Hartford and a couple of flights to/from Edinburgh and Belfast this year. The routing you want might be seasonal - could you move PAST January to see if they may start again in May or June?

Does DCL book one way flights for people on their cruises?

If you arrive in the EU on a one-way ticket, you may get flagged in immigration and passport control. They may remind US citizens that you *must* leave the EU within 90 days. Your cruise documents should be sufficient proof.

Thanks for that review of TAP. I THINK we found our airline. It was nice that the review was specific Newark to Lisbon, which is our first leg. The price is good enough.

Have to consider that was to Accara. It’s not as far to Paris from Lisbon.

We flew Norwegian to Barcelona for our TA last year and were very happy with them. The huge benefit was the direct flight from EWR which was a fraction of other airlines that required connections. Another huge savings was the ability to opt out of the extras. We saved $200 by opting out of the awful “dinner” on our red eye flight. We saved another hundred by purchasing basic economy. The kids didn’t have luggage (their clothes fit in our suitcases) so we avoided paying that fee. Exceeded our expectations- which of course was low due to the very low price lol.
