You're off to Disney - World or Land - and you can make one ADR - so where's it going to be?? Now you go 2 to 3 times a years so you know you're gonna have another choice/chance in 4 to 6 months - what's your strategy?? Does time of year matter - events (F&G/F&W/SWW)??

When we went to Disney in the 70's it was pretty wide open - we just rambled around the Magic Kingdom. The 80's went by, enter the 90's and all the kids were finally old enough for me to go to Disney. We did dry runs to the local parks - tested their ability to listen and control themselves - so, with Grand Mom's help (air/car) we were off to 5 glorious days in the Ft Wilderness Cabins (trailer). We were racked and stacked - it was a whirl wind. Every few years we managed to go again and while I tried to slow the planning down, lets face it with a family of five you need reservations (that last kid just throws every thing off ). After our last family trip in 2006, we stuck off on our own and rambled. We loved it!! BUT, I didn't know Dan was gonna love it such much that he'd nix the ADR's completely so I lobbied for one ADR a trip. This trip we're going back to King Stephan's Castle somewhere we haven't been since 2004

Awesome line from Hunt for Red October. It's my ringtone for my brother who served on subs.

As for one ADR, I think it would depend on situation...but generally, I'd say a character breakfast that has Donald Duck, so Tusker House. Tusker has better food than Cape May and Chef Mickey's.

Love that movie!! I had to read this thread with that as the lure :)

One ADR for us would depend on the time of year and the group going; but more importantly, something we had not done yet and that is going to be difficult to arrange without the ADR. Very hard to get into would likely include Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Castle, Le Cellier, Beaches & Cream and all character meals.

The DDP and free dining have really made all table service restaurants a challenge during normal dining times. Eating early can improve chances of a walk-in or making it through the wait list before starvation sets in.

Never saw the movie, so I came to read due to not knowing what the heck it was! Lol

Time of year usually doesn't matter to me. During F&W, I won't get many ADR due to wanting to try many of the foods around the world. If going around Christmas, we may book a candlelight processional dinner package so that would limit the choices.

I think where my resort is for that particular trip and what parks we will be visiting for the day of the ADR is more important than the time of the year.

Unless there is a special meal that is important to your family, I would keep trying different restaurants.

Well, I used my next 'ping' on King Stehen's but DH wants to nix that cause he said he's not into a character meal :crazy2: I think it's also because it's the 4th night of our vacation and he doesn't like that either. hmmm.... I'm thinking - not into buffets, no lil kids for character meals and not dressy.

Awesome line from Hunt for Red October.

:thumbsup2

Same.

Gasp! Go watch it! Connery and (young, not-yet-weird) Baldwin...not much to dislike there...

OP, either lunch/dinner at Tusker House OR Brown Derby for the tofu noodle bowl. Depends on how hungry we are. I can't decide on just one!
