We’re planning an upcoming trip for a non-home resort just before the 7 month window. With the 50% borrowing limitation, we’ll be just a little shy of the points needed for our target nights, so we’re planning to purchase a few one-time use points to make up the difference. This is the first time we’ve had to do that.

For anyone who has done it before- what’s the actual purchase process like relative to the reservation process? Do I make the reservation online using more than 50% of my borrowed points and then immediately call to purchase the difference in one-time points? Do I need to call and purchase the one-time points so they’re connected to my account before making the reservation? I’ve been looking everywhere for info and haven’t found anything that outlines the actual steps in this process. Thanks!

You cannot prepurchase OTU points or borrow more than 50%. You will need to call to make the booking.

I would recommend booking everything you can with the points you have while waiting on hold to add the last night.

Book as many nights as you can borrowing the 50% and then call to add the last night with OTU points.

Well that sounds clear if not unnecessarily complicated. Thanks for the responses!
