One Time Use Points

So a thought just occurred to me....we are taking a trip in November and had to borrow 50 points from 2019 to fund some of this trip.

Is it possible to purchase one time use points and then bank the points from 2018 used for this upcoming trip so we have more points in 2019 for a trip. What is the cost of the one time use points? Is it simply the dues on those one time use points or is it more expensive?

Thank you.

Probably a good chance that they would make you rebook the reservation, but you would need to use the points that were borrowed in first, and then bank the 2018 UY points after if you are still in your banking window. Hopefully you get a CM that knows what they are doing and make it work for you. OTU points are currently $17/points and only 24 points per contract can be purchased.

I believe it is 24 points per UY, not contract. I have 3 contracts for VGF, 1 for SSR, and 1 for BWV. I cannot purchase 120 OTU points.

If you could add a day to your reservation using OTU points, you could then modify the reservation later, asking them to drop a day and requesting that current UY points be returned (which should actually happen by default). If within your banking window, you could then push those points into your subsequent UY. I had done something similar but with transferred points covering about 1/3 the reservation and when I knocked a day off, they put my current UY points back into my account (as opposed to the transferred points which would expire at the year end). YMMV - it might make a difference if the transaction appears to attempt to bypass home resort advantage.

It depends on the CM that you get on the phone. I had one actually substitute SSR points for a VGF reservation during Thanksgiving 2 years ago. The call started as a me wanting to change some points out for banked points that were in a new vgf resale contract I had purchased. I asked her if she could change the SSR points for the VGF points as well(really just to see if they would), and the CM did. I'm sure it is the exception and not the rule.
