I assume there's no way to buy one time usage points except to call MS, and maybe get through?:sad2:

You need to call MS and make your reservation at the time that you purchase the OTUPs.

And, are the points good for my entire UY if I need to canx that reservation? Do they show in my account, or must I call MS to make a new reservation?

They will be good for the UY of the trip you purchased them for if that reservation needs to be canceled or changed.

They will work online now and what you will see is a temporary contract added to your membership. It holds the points. The resort will be which ever one the points actually belong to.

Also, one time use points can only be purchased at the 7 month booking window.

Yes you need to call - I recently bought 13 points. Maybe you’ll be lucky - I didn’t get a busy signal and only waited 40ish minutes two weeks ago to do this.

thanks. Also, Can I buy 1X usage points several times until I hit 24 or does it all have to be in 1 transaction?

As many times as you need while making a reservation that you want to use them in,

And again, it is per UY, so if you were booking trips that fell in different ones, you could buy up to 24 of each.

Also it is per contract. If you have 2 different contracts, not .1, .2 etc. but different membership numbers you can buy 24 OTUP per contract per use year.

I think the way you posted makes it a little confusing.

. The number of contracts doesn’t matter, It is simply per membership...UY.

I have 4 contracts, but two in an Aug UY and two in my Dec UY. I can get 24 total to use with my two contracts in each of those memberships.

So, you can get up to 24 for each UY you have.

I am out of points for my Sept 2021 contract. I do not want to rent points. Could I do this?
1. Make an OKW reservation for 24 1X UY points for Aug travel by buying 1X UY points for 2020 UY.
2. Then canx that booking and reallocate points by "refreshing/modifying" another Aug AKV booking (no availability currently)
3. Then bank the 2020 points I had used for that AKV booking into my 2021 UY?
4. Which then leaves the ability to Buy another 24 1X usage points in my 2021 UY if needed later?

Yes, you can do that as long as the Aug trip at AKV you currently have was not booked more than 7 months out.

OTU points can only go into trips books 7 months or less. If the trip was booked during the home resort period, then it will not let you modify and use them.

If it was not, then it’s not an issue at all.

DANG! I was just thinking this! I booked a March 22 visit with my Sept 21 pts and dipped into my Sept. 22 pts - and was thinking @ the 7 month window I could buy some one time use points to un-book the ones from 2022....

oh well - OR maybe if I switch hotels does that count as a "new reservation" and then I could buy some one time use points and release the Sept. 2022 pts?

Starting May 1st, they will no longer be returning any borrowed points. So, Sept 2022 points you borrowed into your Sept 2021 UY for that March 2022 trip are stuck, no matter what you do,

However, if there is still availability at 7 months, at beginning or end of the trip, you can book those with some OTU points, drop nights from the one you booked during home resort and then bank any 2021 points freed up.

OH YES -THAT'S RIGHT! Dang - forgot about the rules going back to normal...

and I'll just keep my points where they are - your idea sounds confusing and I'm sure I'd mess it up!

HA!

HA!

When you get to the 7 month window, if you want a refresher, let me know! Lol

But, I agree, it’s probsbly not worth it for 24 points since it does cost you money to do it.

What happens if you purchase one time use points and then need to cancel? What happens to those points?

The are returned to the UY of the trip and expire at the end of it. They can not be banked and are non-refundable.

If you cancel less than 31 days out, they will go into holding..well, starting May 1st when rules go back to normal...and be restricted to trips booked 60 days or less from check in.

Thanks! So if you cancel outside of 31 days then the only restriction is they're basically points without a home resort, so you can only ever use them at the 7 month window?
