One time forgiveness?

Is this true......that we are given a one time "forgiveness" for a screw up with points? I have 11 points that I mistakenly thought I could use in October. Come to find out, I have to use them by September 30th! I don't see how I can and will probably have to take the hit. I thought I had read that we are given a one time grace for something like this. Is this true??

In the past, the once-in-a-lifetime-double-secret forgiveness has usually applied to situations when the banking deadline had passed and points would be lost. There have been reports of others receiving some "magic" for other situations too - so it can't hurt to call MS and see if there is anything they will do for you.

If these are current points, I'm sure MS would allow such an extension - but if so, you are not beyond your banking deadline for an October Use Year, you still have until May 31 to bank current points. If they are points that had already been banked MS won't likely provide any exemption. If you won't be able to use them yourself, you might consider trying to rent a reservation to someone else.

As Doc said, it sounds like you have an Oct UY so you are still within the banking period if they are current 2009 points. No exemption needed!

They are banked points and for reason I had it in my head that I had until October 31 to use them. When I called MS to inquire, I was told I had to use them by Sept. 30. It's my mistake. Live and learn.

We have used this "special" assistance when we once forgot to bank points. It was a lot more than 11 points though. Not sure if it would apply in this situation and like Deb, I'm not sure I'd use my OIALDS waiver for 11 points.

Maybe look on the rent and trade board to see if someone is looking for a small transfer, and make their day.

The "one time forgiveness" allows current points to be banked past the deadline. It never allows banked points to be extended further.

Banked points cannot be transferred. Making a reservation is the only real option at this point.

This is why "I" don't handle the points in my family. DW understands the rules much better. Thanks for correcting me.
