One room or two

I could have written this two weeks ago as we have also always had our connecting room request guaranteed....until last week! We did a split stay at the BC and Poly, had two rooms booked at each, and were traveling with our three boys (12, 15, 17). We got connecting at Poly but not at the BC...we were in 3714 and they were in 3721. They are old enough so it wasn't an issue and we had spare keys made up, but for kids your ages, I wouldn't risk it!

Thank for the tip! Yeah I could not risk having them in a non connecting room!

This one is near and dear to me with 5 in my family (kids are now 15, 12, 9). On previous trips, we rented 2 rooms at the Pop Century and it worked out for us (sorry for your voodoo).

Something different you might want to consider: on our last trip, we rented a trailer to be delivered to Fort Wilderness and that was absolutely awesome. I have zero camping experience but it didn't matter. It was an outside company, Moore Camping Rentals (www.mcrfl.com) and they deliver, set up everything, and haul it away when the trip is done, you just need to book the site. It's a small family business and they are very responsive. The only disadvantage is no housekeeping but we had plenty of space and were able to give our kids the Fort Wilderness experience without having to take out a 2nd mortgage to rent one of their cabins. The total cost isn't much more than the 2 rooms at a value resort (or 1 at POR). It's a great way for non-campers to enjoy the experience without having to put in all the work that comes with it. We typically never spend any time at the hotels but FW definitely makes it worth it.

In the middle of the most recent trip, the kids were hounding us to make sure we stayed at Fort Wilderness again. Guess it worked out as we hoped.

This is why we bought DVC. 3 kids, now 11, 9, and 5. Today we are at Animal Kingdom, Kidani Village, in a one bedroom. We have a king bed, sofa bed for the boys, and a sleeper chair for our daughter. More importantly, 2 bathrooms!
In a couple years we'll have to start getting 2 bedroom villas due to puberty :)

We are a family of 5. Kids were 5, 7 and 9 on our last trip in Jan. We had no trouble fitting in POR. DD9 loved the Murphy bed. We only sleep and shower in the room and can't justify paying for a deluxe. It's a beautiful resort. We had the stay/play/dine package. Paid for garden view and got upgraded to preferred on arrival. Returning for a surprise trip in Nov with free dining :)
