I tried searching this topic, sorry if its a repeat. Newbie :)

My cousins family and my family would like to book a 2 bdrm at BWV next August. How would we book and split points? Call in and have both membership numbers? Or do we both physically have to be on the phone? BWV is not home resort for either of us so it would be at 7 month window regardless.

A point transfer from one account to the other or separate reservations for each part of the stay with each other listed on the reservation and the reservations noted so you don't have to move.

:earsboy: Bill

Either one of you will have to transfer points to the other and then that one person could call in and book the room for all the nights OR one of you will book the first part of the trip and then the second owner will have to wait until 7 months out to book the second part. At that point you could both get on a conference call to MS and link the reservation so that you can stay in the same room although you probably would have to get new room keys when the second reservation started.

But if either of you need to borrow points to make the reservation, you can't borrow transferred points. So the family member who needs to borrow points needs to be transferred to. If both of you need to borrow points, then you both need to make a portion of the reservation (you book four nights, the other books three nights).

When I booked my GV, I had to use both of my contracts and I had to borrow from both of them. So I had to book six nights with the one contract and one night with the other.

BWV for one week is 301 (2 bdrm in August). We have 120 banked, 120 current. I know they own 160 but not sure what their banking/borrowing situation is. I'd hate to book for a few days and then the room not be there the rest of the week so I guess we will transfer points and make reservation together. We have quite awhile to get to the 7 month window.

Thanks for the options.

We did a joint reservation a couple years ago with friends. We did a conference call and both talked to MS. We ended up booking a GV with a combination of their points and our points, and it was super easy!

You can't transfer banked points either. You can only transfer current year points.

Similar question to the OP, but a little different.

Two different members with two reservations. Member 1 has six nights and member 2 has two nights same resort and room type. Will call to link if a wait list does not come through for a split stay.

If the wait list does not come through before the 31 days can MS change the reservation to move two days from member 1 to member 2 so that they use their expiring points?

My other thought would be member 2 transfers the points to member 1. If that happened would MS reallocate the points so the transferred points are used?

The only way MS could transfer the room between members would be a complete cancel followed by (hopefully) rebooking. I would not risk it because it's very likely you'd end up with no room at all.

Second - points can only be transferred if they are current and I'm assuming that since they are expiring they are banked? If that is correct then it cannot be done.
