One person's ticket upgrade = another person's additional fastpasses?

Hi all,

"Theoretical" situation. 4 people stay on site at WDW. 2 of these people buy a 10 day ticket. The other 2 people buy a 5 day ticket (don't want to burn out at the parks and are technically seniors). Now, let's say that the 2 that bought a 5 day ticket and upgraded to a 6 day ticket, then never actually use the 6th day in a park. From what I know from reading these forums (and please correct me if I'm mistaken), that unused 6th day would allow for fastpasses to be booked for that 6th, additional day. Let's say that this happened and the 2 people that had 10 day tickets made use of the other two magicbands and fastpasses for a day. Would the process of booking and using fastpasses on that 6th day of the tickets then be repeatable, providing that the 6th day wasn't used to enter a park? For example, on Monday, 3 fastpasses were booked using that 6th day and used by the other 2 people. Then on Tuesday, another 3 fastpasses were booked and used by the other 2 people, and so on. In other words, would spending $30 to add an additional day to two tickets in this scenario result in a constantly rolling window of usable fastpasses for two other people in the same party?

I think it would give you a rolling window but you could only do them as same day FP. You couldn't book them in advance. And of course, I think you could only do it until 14 days from first use bc then the tix expire.

@hiroMYhero can you clarify?

Same day FastPass only. There is a huge thread devoted to the practice, btw. But you can't book FP's through MDE in advance without a purchased ticket for that day. The system won't allow it. An in-park kiosk will allow it, but day-of use only.

Right but in this situation they would actually have tickets for that 6th day, right? So they could be booked in advance for the 6th day and then rolled over each day after that. You wouldn't need to wait until SDFP at a kiosk but could book them again once they were used on the previous day (I have sometimes had to go in and cancel if any of them still showed after using them). So you'd at least be able to do them from your MDE, before the park opened.

^Right. That was the answer I was hoping to hear. Thanks, marciemi! :thanks:

Yes, I've read through the ins and outs of using a magicband without a ticket associated to make SDFP reservations. This differs in that legitimate tickets with a remaining day are involved. And the 6th day actually would end up being used to enter a park by the end of the 14 day window, so essentially, it could be a handful of free fastpasses for a number of days.

If this is something that hasn't been reported on within these boards, I'll happily experiment and let you all know. It's the least I can do after all I've learned from these boards. You'll just have to wait until October! :)

They will "generate" FPs that can be booked before you enter the park. The concept of using a ticket to generate FPs is included in ScrapYap's thread.

Much appreciated hiro! I did read that thread but it seems that I reached a point of fatigue by the time I got to GLFP (or the acronym just didn't register with me at first). Totally answers my question.

Sorry about the ultimately unnecessary thread.

I guess I should've worded better. They can schedule the 6th day in advance but after that, they have to wait until they use that day's FP, right? Though I wasn't sure if they would be able to schedule the additional days before the previous day was over. Good to know that it can be done that way.

No problem and actually good info because a "leftover" day on a multi-day ticket isn't discussed much as FP Generators (GLFP). :)
