One park per day and no park hopping

I hope we will know if we have a park reservation before we arrive. I would be very disappointed to pay for a trip and flights only to have to book a park reservation "day of" and not be able to get in. Now if I can reserve my park 30 days before I go then I will know I can get into the parks or if I don't I can cancel my reservation.

One of the many things that bothers me about the park reservation systems is that, and I read this on the MDE, is that resort reservations do not guarantee a park reservation. Really? Then why would i want to come to WDW to vacation and be denied access to a theme park? What happens to possible unused days of a ticket if someone is denied entry due to capacity. In our case we are AP holders and now we will be denied park hopping. Will there be a partial refund due to this perk being denied? Additionally they are requiring the use of face coverings. If this is a mandatory requirement then it is probably unsafe for anyone to be in the parks and they should remain closed until such time as they can reopen under normal circumstances. We have rescheduled our June vacation til November and are hoping things will have settled down by then. The only reason we rescheduled is we are trying to avoid losing DVC points banked from 2018 use year. If it weren't for that we'd have thrown in the towel and waited until 2021. The whole situation has me fired up and I apologize for the rant. Thank you for listening.

What I take away from that is that Disney is just saying that a resort guest should not assume they can just show up at a park and get in. Resort guests will get some sort of park reservation priority. But they need to do it. I am sure they will also be plastering resort guests email with reminders to make reservations. Although we are getting really close to opening day with zero info on how the res system will work.

I think you will know. It may not be 30 days, depending upon when your trip is. It should be close to 30 days for most people though. Mine is 7/12, so I am within the that 30 day window now. We are not flying, so it's not a big deal. I think they will be releasing it within the next week or two, starting with the guinea pigs. Oink!

I am not a businessman but I do love Disney. Planning and looking forward to the trip are as much fun as actually going. I think Disney could roll out the reservation system and ADR's now. They must know what they will do. If plans change due to a catastrophe we can take it. This silence and void in our vacation is a damper on it.

Unfortunately, knowing WHAT you will do and knowing HOW to do it are two very different things for Disney. They outsourced their IT department several years ago, and most of it is not even on U.S. soil. So who knows if their IT workers are even at work or can work.

Logically, the park reservation is no different than a ride fast pass. It's a way to manage the number of people in a park at any given time, which is a necessity with the coronavirus still being a threat. I would imagine visitors could still park hop, but instead of just going to the 2nd park one would have to open up the app and see if there was a "reservation" available for the 2nd park before going. If one attempts to go into a 2nd park without a reservation, it would be the same as attempting to enter a ride's fast pass without a valid fast pass reservation.

The magic band system in place should easily be able to handle park hopping as well. Providing one has a park hopper ticket, that is.

I just spoke to a CM about my September ressie which includes PH. It is not removed because the situation is fluid and they are hoping for modifications as time passes. I’m sure initial PH’s for July will be canceled but there remains hope for September and beyond.

Honestly, to me with the limited hours and the crowd levels lower, I don't think park hopping is so important.

QS dining at resorts other than your own won't be permitted. Disney has said you will need an ADR for TS or a resort reservation to enter a resort.

As far as the park reservations, I'm trying to wrap my head around how that will work. My first thought was that maybe there would be time slots you have to book that you're allowed to enter the park during. But if people get stuck with a 12pm or 1pm time slot, they will not be happy with that having paid the same with so much lost park time.

I also wonder if they will have some kind of exit checkpoint or turnstiles at the exits like Universal has to monitor the number of people exiting the parks. Otherwise, they will run the risk of exceeding their limited capacity OR being very under their allowed capacity, which I'm sure they'd like to avoid. I know at my local Home Depot, they have been limiting capacity to 100 people in the store exactly. There are employees stationed at the entrance and exit that have electronic counters. When the exit guy clicks that four people have exited, the entrance guy permits four people to enter. I'm curious to see if Disney will allow more in mid-late afternoon, perhaps people with hoppers. Otherwise it could be pretty empty late in the day.

That was my point...they still feel the situation is “fluid” so PH may be usable/feasible in September IF things are closer to norm. (A big unlikely IF)

When the Fort Worth Zoo first reopened, you had to have a reservation to enter. You had a two hour time slot... no earlier, no later. Now, they’ve moved to an hour time slot. Instead of a group coming in from 9 am to 11 am, two groups come in at 9 to 10 and 10 to 11.
