My DH does not want to go a cruise and I really want to, even if it means traveling without him.

Anybody care to share pros/cons/horror stories of traveling alone with kids? My boys will be 12,13, and 14.

Thanks,
Michelle

I've traveled alone with my two boys and had a wonderful time. With the ages of your kids, you should be just fine. I will say that I'm a single mom and used to doing it on my own though. I have a few married friends that freak out when their husband is out of town for a few days and I think it would be much harder for them to take a vacation without another adult along. I suppose you get used to whatever your situation is. I never felt like I was the only adult that didn't have a "partner", there were plenty of activities that I could do solo or with my kids.

He'll be SORRRRRY!!!!!!!!!! DH wasn't too keen on going but DD was working on the ship so we HAD to go. He absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to go again.

I've seen LOTS of posts where guys have gone along "just to keep peace in the family" and then THEY'RE the ones rebooking onboard.

But to answer your question. I don't see a problem with taking your boys. Just put the word out that THEY carry the luggage.

I really don't have any tips for you. You and your boys will have a wonderful time. I'm a single mom (widow) and my kids are 8 and 5, we did a lot of things together and there's a few times they were at the kid's Oceaneer Lab/Club. They had a great time and enjoyed themselves there. You will have plenty of time for yourself to relax and enjoy what Disney has to offer. What I did when they were in the club was take a nap. It was a nice nap. I needed it. I think by the boat rocking, it lulls me to sleep. Enjoy!

What a beautiful family you have *Fantasia*

Thanks for everyone's support. I know DH will regret it... how could ANYONE NOT want to go!

I'm a single mom. Last August I cruised with my 13 y o DD (special needs), my 12 y o niece (her only "special need" is that she hates Disney), and my 6 month old "foster" daughter. It was a challenge, but mostly due to the configuration of our group (i.e; the dynamics between one cousin who is disney crazed, and her cousin who has been brainwashed to hate characters!!!). In your case, and at your boys' ages, I would even think twice.....I'd GO.....book it NOW!!!! (Our cruise was followed by a week at WDW which was extended by several days due to Hurricane Frances...... By the time we got home I swore that I would never travel again. Well, we're doing the 14 day in August.....this time it'll just be me and my two girls!!!!

I went alone with my DS 12 and DS 8 last April, and did not have any problems. We hung out together at dinner, they went to bingo with me once, and we rode bikes around Castaway Cay together. Other times, I just relaxed, went to the spa and attended other activities. You will be just fine. If I would have known about this board on my first trip I would have started a single mom thread for my sailing date. Maybe you can do that. Good Luck and most importantly ENJOY, you only live once and I have decided that I will not stop traveling becuz I am a single mother.
