:flower: Hi everyone!

I am trying to plan a "keep your spirits up" trip for my kids when their DD is deployed...I am trying to find someone to come with me but I was wondering how others handle this situation.....

Would be just me and DD, 13 who LOVES all the rides and DS, 8 who DOES NOT love the rides. DS goes on the easy rides- I am also a thrill seeker and love the rides but I don't know how to handle it...I am not very comfy sending my DD on the ride by herself...I am certainly not going to make my DS go on any rides he doesn't want to.....

Any ideas other than skip the rides for next trip? Which wouldn't be so bad since we are going to try and plan a Welcome Home trip for DH!

Thanks
Lisa

Harambe here!

Boy that is a tough one! I think you may have to allow your thrill seeker to do a couple of rides, but look for rides that you can keep an eye on her from an observation area. Like at Big Thunder Railroad. You and DS can go all the way thru the line with DD, leave by the chicken exit, then watch at the observation deck.

You can do this with a few other rides, but others, like Test Track or Tower of Terror, you wouldn't be able to watch her on the ride.

EVERY ride has a chicken exit, although it may be boring for you to just stand in line.

Good luck!

I've been in the same situation. It's tough. Can one of your DD's friends come along? Or one of DS's friends who can keep him company while you ride with DD?

when are U going to be in the WORLD maybe someone from DIS can help.... If your vacation fall on Sept. 24 to OCT 1st and we are on the same park we can hang around till you get your dd13 ride and we'll just have ice cream :rotfl: not i big thrill rider here sorry... biggest I can do is the Spalsh mountain and Potsie dont even ride she just carry my bag while I ride :rotfl2:

i have an idea, but i'm not sure you'll go for it... it would depend on your ds...

would you consider letting ds stay at a kids' club one night while you and dd go do a thrill ride tour? if so, it might solve your problem...

on another note, thank you to your family and your dh for being in the military, protecting our freedom and i wish you all health and happiness and a safe return for him!

Check out the singles board. It has parent meets if you want. I would love to vacation with you, I am the chicken and DD10 feels deprived if she can't do those rides (often we have family and friends with us so she goes.)

Post your dates, you'll be surprised how quick you can make a DIS friend.

Thank you so much for your nice replies! I am trying to convince my DB's family to come....maybe even my MIL (now, I am really reaching! :rotfl2: Just kiddin)

I think I am too overprotective to even let my DD and a friend to go out of sight....I could look into something for DS to do one evening (still a nervous nelly though).

I think if we are on our own we will just soak in the Christmas theme and do the easy rides and shows.....I am sure my DD will understand and give us something to look forward to in 2007 (ugh- long time away! :guilty: )

Thanks again everyone!

Thank you for the nice words. My DH leaves the beginning of August- it is going to be a long, hard time but I am hoping to pull off this trip to keep our spirits up. :Pinkbounc
