On a one on one trip with a child (he will be turning 7 on the trip) how do you handle waiting for things like the fireworks, Fantasmic, etc? What do I do if he needs to go use the bathroom while we are staking out our spot? :confused3 He is notorious for claiming he doesn't have to go, but then has to really bad 20 minutes later, LOL! I have never had to consider this before as we have always gone as a whole family and one of us could save the spot.

The fireworks will be the only night time show while we are there. (our 2 park days are May 7th and 8th) Will that make it even more crowded so we need to save a spot earlier? I would like to be able to watch from where we can see the castle if possible.

Any advice? What do you do?

My daughter just turned 6... we go to the bathroom ~ every 2 hours when we travel alone... I keep her hydrated which means more frequent trips anyway, but I also do not want to be staking out a place (or waiting in line) and have her need to go right before it starts... it happens though, and you might be able to ask the people around you to hold your spot... For the parade, no need to grab a spot more than 30 minutes before... so just take him to the bathroom right before that... the fireworks are a 1/2 hour long, so even if you stake out a spot an hour early, its only 1.5 hours to wait... again just go to the bathroom beforehand. Make sure he understands that it is difficult to get to a bathroom immediately sometimes, so when you say its time to go, its time to go! :thumbsup2

I went a lot just me and my son when he was younger. Most people in lines or any waiting area understand the "potty" needs of young children and usually are happy to save your spot. I would explain that my son needed to use the restroom and would they mind saving our spot and was never turned down. I have also been asked the same thing. It is truly the only time I don't get irritated by someone trying to get back to their place in line.

But Mommy's advice is good - try to go about every 2 hours when you are there - it really helps!

Have fun - those were some of my most favorite memories!

We have always used the rule if you are by a bathroom you try to use the bathroom. It usually means every 2 hours or less we hit a bathroom. That usually stops the "I have to go" 20 minutes into a long line.
Also as others have said just ask someone to save your spot, for fireworks and parades :) most people who have been sitting there for hours will gladly ablige. None of us want to surrender our coveted spot to someone who sneaks in at the last minute :scared1:
