One of the worst weeks of my life! (long) NO DISNEY, NO CAR, I WAS SCAMMED!

These scams are what makes me put off selling my Dad's car. I am the Personal Rep of his will, and keep thinking how much of a scam it will look like, deceased father's car, out of state plates (at least now it is in our driveway and my brother would not be the one showing it) Anyone know of a better way to sell it, I just don't think a used car dealer would pay anywhere near what it is worth.

Do you belong to a church? You could post a notice there and at work. Lots of people would jump at the chance to buy a car driven by a little old man! :) I am sorry about your dad and hope this works out for you. I know how stressful it is settling a loved one's estate.

On a side note, when my dad died, I bought his car. My husband gets to drive the old man car!

I wouldn't worry about looking like a scammer- they can personally come see the car and see that it exists, and you can require they pay cash, it should be okay. You may get people that want to send you a wire and send a company to pick it up, etc., but just ignore them.

Exactly.

Have your brother drive the car to a different location (with another person in another car in case it's an immediate sale), make sure your brother feels comfortable with the person that he's meeting, etc. Don't let the car out of his sight.

It's a very different situation than getting a vehicle sight-unseen.
