I used to do all the southern biker rallies, and would tent camp in parking lots, KOAs, empty wooded lots...heck, Ive even tented next to dumpsters!!! But I wouldn't just sleep next to any old dumpster, it had to be a classy dumpster!!!

Well, I had to vote more times than I can count, but I most definately would not say "bring it on." Seems like the older I get, the harder the ground gets, so no more dirt for me thank you. I'll take my comfy camper anyday.

Wowza....well, we used to do long-distance motorcycle touring, plus the normal bike weeks and rallies all across the US...... and for about the first 7 years we tent camped. Then, we bought a PUP to tow behind the bikes.... it worked well.

Now, though? My motorhome is about as "campy" as I'll get.... (no comments, BDR.... I know you got 'em!)

I was a scout leader for a number of years. We camped once a month so it was easy to get beyond the 10 times camping in a tent.

Wife and I hiked the Appalachian Trail for a week in the 100 Mile Wilderness section in Maine on our 1st anniversary. We had a great time, and didn't realize quite how much "newbies" we were. Thank you to all experienced hikers who help out the newbies!!

Friends got a TT 8 years ago, and invited us to a campground. I had never "camped" at an organized campground before, but we bought a large, inexpensive cabin tent and took the two kids and went. We had a great time, and said that if we were still family camping after 3 years we would buy a TT. Well, after three years of cabin tenting, we bought our 21' TT. We are now entering our 5th season with it.

By the last year of tenting, inside the tent we had: two cots, two air mattresses, chairs, fan for hot days and heater for cold days, electric light, radio, and other "stuff".

I've also done some boy scout tenting with my son. My son has started to go off on overnights with friends using our small tent in the woods. I think it is great, and he is having fun doing it. Unfortunately, so many kids these days just want to play video games that he has difficulty finding friends to go with him.

I voted for the last one, however, "Bring it on" is a little strong for me at this point. I mean, I'll do it. I do need a cot, feather mattress, etc as I do have HIPS! Sleeping on those piddly 1/2 inch foam things is just about as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard.

I would certainly sleep on one and love it for FtW, though

We pitch a tent for the kids if we are going to be somewhere for awhile. They have bunkbed cots, heater, fan, nice pillows and blankets. It's a pain to haul and set it all up...but it gives us all more room and privacy.

The last time I slept in a tent was the night of my senior prom. My boyfriend (now DH) thought it would be romantic. He and my best friend's boyfriend went out that morning and set it up. So here we are, my best friend and I in our pretty dresses, hair all done up, trying to get ready for bed in TENTS. I slept on a tree root that night and swore never again. Looking back, it's amazing I agreed to marry the man I will save my "honeymooning in a pop up" story for another time.

Tent camped for many years before we got our pop up. Many times at FW, however, that being said. I don't know that I would do it now my back can't take it anymore.

We have only camped once in a tent and I didnt care for it. It is just not something that we are used to. I would do it again if it was the only way that I could stay at the Fort.

That sounds so much like my DH! I was VERY pregnant with our first DD and we camped for our Anniversary. That was the beginning of the end of tent camping for me!

Done lots of tent camping as an adult Scout Leader and have probably 30 nights of tent camping at Ft. Wilderness. I love my camper though and will use it whenever possible, but will still tent camp. (Although I must have an air mattress)

Ever been up Katahdin? I'm sure you have.

Not on that trip, but later we went white water rafting with a big group at Northern Outdoors, on the Penobscot River. The day we weren't rafting we all climbed to the top of Katahdin. Hiking "Knife's Edge" is very cool.

On our honeymoon trip part of the trail crossed Whitecap Mountain. It was pretty amazing to watch Maine Air National Guard (don't know precise name) flying below us.
