I've been absolutely craving staying at the Grand again but am realizing I'll never see prices like I did in 2014 when I was last there on vacation in September. Back then it was $300 a night. How will I ever get back if one nights rest cost more than double that price?! I understand completely that Disney has a business to run, just as Pete says on his show - but when is the turn around point for inflation? Thanks!!

Look for sale prices on the resorts and special offers and discounts to prop up park attendance. In addition to the collapse of the South American economies and the devaluation of the British and Canadian currencies we now have Zika concerns impacting the decision to go to WDW.

The price gouging on park tickets when the kids are off of school did not help park attendance either... Karma's a bear and it's biting Disney management in the rear end.

As long as there are people willing to pay the price, they will ask that price.

::yes::

You may also want to look at changing your dates. I agree their prices are getting a bit outrageous. If you are looking for the GF type experience and are willing to stay slightly on but slightly off property check out the Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek. I love that resort.

My point is that it's possible. Conventions get rates that pretty much destroy rack, and GF is a convention hotel.

Conventions get a discount on most of the hotels in the area of which the convention is... In order for you get a discount on CR and GF and sometimes POLY and even WL you must have the convention at the CR which in costs $$$$$ as opposed to having it in the Boardwalk area or CSR. So while Mickey gives with one hand they take it with the other... Plus remember all the corporate dinners at full price and shall I say adult drinks.. They make far more on conventions than guests. Convention people will not be eating burgers and drinking soda...

Ah, but you're assuming that everyone staying on a convention rate is going to a convention, and that is also not true.

That's one reason I stayed at Pop Century last trip! We rented from an owner through redweek for AKV last spring break for $2000 for the week in a one bedroom/two bathroom. That's my breaking point, so honestly don't know if I'll stay at a Disney deluxe resort again! And, I used to ONLY stay at them! There is no way they are worth nearly what rack rate is.

I guess it was over 10 years now but I remember there used to be really good discounts and I got to stay at Animal Kingdom lodge for a couple of trips for under $150 a night. And one of those trips they upgraded me to Savannah view. Forget that today! Those were the days!
