One Night Waitlist: Wishful thinking or Just a little Pixie Dust?

After the making the mistake of dilly-dallying around booking an extra night in a GFV lake view studio for the week of the January marathon, I am now wait-listed for the night of January 11, 2016. Am I just crazy for thinking this extra night will come through? Or do I stand a decent chance? For weeks and weeks, it was open and I just kept putting it off because I was waiting on my son's school calendar for next year. Now poof, it's gone! That's a lesson learned for me! Luckily, I have the week before booked for the race (phew!) but I would love to hear success stories about a one night waitlist....especially during busier times!

I had a one night waitlist come thru for VGC that was during a marathon time which is pretty similar to VGF size so yes, it can happen but still no guarantee. I'd book something at 7 months once that window opens up to be certain I had a backup and then just leave the waitlist for up to 7 days. Since Jan 11th is a Monday I don't think the marathon has too much of an effect on it - that usually ties up Fri and Sat nights and frankly those are bears to try and get a room if you don't have one already.

I waitlisted one night std view at VGF for the day/night of the wine and dine half (nov 7) it came through 2-3weeks later. It took patience but it eventually came thru!!! Sending pixie dust your way!!!!

Thank you very much! I am really hoping for pixie dust but also going to have a back up plan...maybe consider the pointier one-bedroom at the GFV to keep us in the same resort...keeping finders and toes crossed!

We waitlisted for 1 night at the Polynesian on a Saturday. The waitlist came through the next Monday so it can be done.

We have a waitlist right now for Poly for our first night there as we were able to get the rest of our stay. It's been about a month and hasn't moved, but I'm staying hopeful. Hope you get your WL!
