We're staying in a Villa on our next trip, followed by 3 nights at the Poly (GV Concierge).

Its DD1's 7th birthday on Hallowe'en and we're planning on doing CRT in the morning ('planning'being the operative word) & MNSSHP that night.

Would it be worth booking into WL or CR for the night of 31st so we can get some 'downtime' in the afternoon ready for a late night at MK without having to go back to the Villa (DD2 will be almost 3). I think it would make it more special staying onsite for her birthday, DH isn't too sure about the extra $$$s!

Maybe an early birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's ?

Which resort would you recommend ?

My Dad did this for us when I was a kid, and I never forgot it. It was the best night of my kid life. We spent a night in the CR tower, ate at one of the restaurants, took the boat to FW for the movie, played in the arcade, and just had the time of our life. I'd recommend you try it. Get either a CR tower room for the possible view of the MK, or take any view at the WL.

Tracey - yes go for it. We've taken to doing this. We book a villa for the duration of our trip and then take a couple of nights out onsite. The great thing is that you only need to pack an overnight bag.

The first time we did it, we did just one night and we felt that wasn't really long enough to get into the whole 'onsite' thing, so we've done 2 nights since. As Demosthenes says, I'm sure it will be a huge thrill for your daughter and something she will always remember. Just remind your dh how much you're saving by not staying onsite for the whole trip! Bearing in mind what you've got planned, I would be inclined to go for one of the monorail resorts.

OK...

I've had similar quotes for CR (Garden Wing) & WL (woods view) - WL is $10 cheaper.

How do the two resorts compare ?

How easy is it to get from WL to CR (Chef Mickey's) and WL to MK for MNSSHP ?

How likely are AP rates for Hollowe'en night - or are the resorts likely to be very bus, therefore no discounts/upgrades ?

Want to make this as special a birthday as possible without spending too many more $$$s

Thanks :Pinkbounc

We do one night trips all the time. Living only 1.5 hours away, we drive over for many Saturday night stays. The resorts are, as you know, wonderful and relaxing. There are also so many options for dinner, especially if you are willing to resort hop.

What a lucky kid! We prefer the atmosphere of WL over CR, especially if you have a garden view room in one of the wings. The pool at WL is really nice - fun slide for your DD.

You can grab a boat launch that goes the loop of FW/CR/WL to get over to CR for Chef Mickey's. They also have a launch that goes to WL/FW/Magic Kingdom, or you can grab a boat to CR and take the monorail (makes 3 more stops before MK) No problem getting to MK from WL, just takes longer than a monorail resort.

Just a thought, have you considered Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner? We went there last year and the characters were dressed up in Halloween costumes - really fun. You would be in the park for the start of MNSSHP that way.

Either way, don't forget to pick up a birthday pin at City Hall!
