Hello! We are staying in August for a paid work trip; 6 nights at the Yacht Club. We will be arriving a day early and need a one night stay. Trying to limit the hassle of moving resorts (child with us) but also considering prices. I have a friend that can book through vacation club and we usually give him $200-$250/night; options there are Poly, AKL, OKW. Prices for Yacht/Beach are around $475 right now. Any thoughts?

Even if you book YC, same room category, you run a small risk of having to pack up and switch rooms. What are your park plans for your arrival and second day and when do you arrive on your check-in day? If you arrive fairly early and were planning on going to a park, perhaps consider AKL or Poly and then use that first day for MK or AKL (depending on which resort you choose). I, personally, would pack everything you need for day 1 and 2 in one bag so that is the only bag you need to access on those days and you won't have to go searching through multiple suitcases to find what you need. If you organize your bags and plan those two days to maximize your locations, it can be less of a hassle.

Also, do you have a group rate for the work trip? Sometimes you can extend those dates and still take advantage of the group pricing.

There is a Sun & Fun Discount that runs through August 31st that is available to book now. You might look into that as an option for cutting costs at Yacht Club for that one night. As previously stated, there's no guarantee that you won't have to change rooms within the resort though.

Great points; thank you! We get 5 day park hopper included in the trip and we’re planning on a park day the first day (arrive at 11AM). We haven’t been able to get an answer to a rate or availability for extending due to the current circumstances.

Make sure you check the start date of your 5 day park hopper. Did you book hotel and ticket package?

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to experience the wonderful Animal Kingdom Lodge. Seeing the animals on the savanna alone is worth spending the night there, plus you have the convenience of great restaurants like Jiko, Boma and Mara. The bus ride to Animal Kingdom is only about 5 min so perfect time to experience that park, which could be especially convenient if you want to stop there the day you change resorts.
Wherever you end up, Gordon Gekko, sure wish you a magical time. :goodvibes

Excellent idea. Looks like both Jambo and Kidani both have availability; any recommendation? Also is savanna worth the extra $ vs. standard? Thanks

I will check; it is provided through work as is the hotel room.

Yes, check on that, because it you are on a package that includes hotel and tickets, the start day of your 5 day hopper will be the day you check-in to the Yacht Club.

Yes! I think that is one of the few resorts where you should pay for the view you want. I rolled the dice and booked a standard there and wasn't facing the savanna in any capacity. While it's a beautiful resort, I probably would have thought a savanna view was a lot more magical than the view I had of the parking lot. If we ever go back, we'll pay more for the savanna view.

We're not DVC and have never stayed in DVC rooms, but compared to Kidani we prefer the Jambo beautiful and spacious lobby, larger gift shop/market, and especially the convenience to all the restaurants (with the exception of Sanaa) .

With Jambo standard view you may luck out with a partial savannah view or you could wind up with a pool view, with the DVC rooms at Jambo there really aren't any bad standard views. We always roll the dice at Jambo and get a partial savannah view when we book the standard category. The picture attached is our stay last summer in a standard view. When we looked down from our balcony we could see the 'people pens' which are larged fenced in areas which is why this is considered a partial savannah view. In the lower right hand corner of the picture you can see the tops of the fence posts for the people pens.

Kidani standard view almost guarantees you a parking lot view.

I’ve done a night at the Dolphin once, before moving to the BWV. It was so convenient to just grab our rolling luggage and walk over the next morning (and we really lucked out as the villa was ready at 9am!). We were ready to just have the bell services hold our bags, but no need. You could price the Swan or Dolphin, and then just walk across the bridge with your stuff next morning.

I have never stayed at either or even considered; thanks for the idea! Logistics question: does Disney move your luggage for you?

I do believe they will transfer your bags from Swan/Dolphin to the Yacht Club. One thing to keep in mind is there is no magical express to the Swan/Dolphin so if that's your mode of transportation from airport you need to consider that.

We added 1 night at the beginning of our Boardwalk Villas stay this past August and chose Poly. I had always wanted to stay there and it was the perfect opportunity. That would be my vote, but that's just me. You could go to Magic Kingdom the first day then Epcot the next day, utilizing the monorail and then being able to walk back to YC when done at Epcot.

I didn’t bother; would rather walk over for a couple minutes and hand it off to bell services after doing check in. It’s a short walk. If they transfer, it can take a long time. If room is ready when you get there (not likely but can happen) it’s nice to just go drop it yourself. I travel a lot, and the less time I’m away from my bags the better.

Great info! Thank you for the response. I have read a few horror stories where people didn’t get their bags until 10PM and later. That will be easy enough for me to just bring the bags over and drop at bell desk
